just finished watching this , gotta say it's one of the best TVshows i ever watched if not the Best , all episodes were interesting imo and i even liked the ending .
The Sopranos was deep and well made. Thing is that those fat-ass Italian gangsters with their stupid childish and violent attitude and the ugly clothes provoked some serious antagonism in me. Especially Pauli and Chris most of the time. The guy they brought from Napoli was very cool on the contrary, probably to portray the distance between the Italian-Americans and real Italians.
It's fun to see that in a stand-alone concept as in the Goodfellas, but in series it gets annoying very quickly.

I've got to agree with you. Even if I liked Goodfellas a lot, the continue perpetuation of stereotypes was really exaggerate (for me at least), and in this show it's even more present, although everything is meant to be 'over the top'. That is probably the reason why I stopped watching it after the 1st season. It was good, but I got bored way faster than I expected.
Not overrated, clearly one of the best TV shows ever made, perfect casting, every character in the series is interesting to follow. I dont think it had any "filler" episodes either.
The star of the upcoming “The Sopranos” prequel says a young Tony Soprano will be a part of the film — but had good reason to be careful about how much else he revealed about “The Many Saints of Newark.”
Just watched all 6 seasons. Honestly I think the reason for all the praise is part nostalgia, and part the lack of content back when it started. It ended up being annoying to the point where the only reason I finished it, was because I'm a bit of a completist. I mean Tony is the biggest shithead protagonist in any HBO show IMO.
Oh well, maybe it's just not for me
Rewatching this masterpiece again, almost done with season 3, and already almost cant stand carmela again, and knowing she is even a bigger bitch in the future .
Btw read some trivia on imdb

It is said that during some scenes, James Gandolfini inserted a small stone in his shoe to anger him, making him play the role of Tony Soprano more authentically
