La-Mulana

What's this?
Quote:
La-Mulana is the “Ruins Exploration Archaeological action game” in which the player seek the “Anthropo-origin”, sleeps in the Huge Ruin La-Mulana, which is said the beginning of whole the civilizations.
Various types of traps for blocking infiltrators are awaiting inside the ruins, and sentinel-monsters are roaming about. Target the deepest point of the ruins by figuring out riddles, putting off the monsters and deactivating the traps. The way to the goal will be extraordinary, more complex riddles will be waiting for you as you come deeper point.
Handle Professor Lemeza to find out the Anthropo-origin!

La-Mulana is a pretty fucking hard metroidvania, it doesn't hold your hand, it doesn't tell you where to go or what to do. It has a really awesome OST too. The original was one of the most famous Indie games (one of the first before the big boom) you can download the original here.

The remake was released on Wiiware, now it's coming to PC with special features, even mods.

Good news. After waiting forever for a Wiiware release that ultimately got cancelled for anywhere that is not Japan and with the uncertainty that it somehow may yet still come to Europe, everything speaks for the PC version.

Hands on by IndieGameMag

Can't wait! They're trying to put it on Steam too, but I'm pretty sure they won't accept it yet because of the summer sale (me thinks).

I'm really gonna have a blast with this when it comes out. It's not the best Metroidvania title, I even prefer other indie stuff like Cave Story and UnEpic, but it's damned fun nonetheless and mercilessly difficult - it takes perverse pleasure in suffering from Castlevania's teeth-grindingly awful Medusa-head Syndrome Laughing

And going for what I've read, this one is even harder. New modes and a better combat system!

Ugh... making it harder is unnecessary. It's already the most difficult Metroidvania title around, making it harder is just silly and smacks of pretentious elite appeal :\

Well I think I read wrong the previews. It's less obtuse and more fast, not really harder.

First review

Quote:
SO, ON THE WHOLE: this remake does everything right. It's perfect for new players, gives returning players a lot more meat to sink their teeth into, and fleshes out the world of the game without destroying the mystery that made it so appealing in the first place. It goes on sale July 13th at Playism-Games.com. It's good. You should buy it.

Just finished it (hard mode, Hell temple) and I really enjoyed it. It's very addicting. Now I want to play more Metroidvania-like games.

It wasn't *that* hard unless you count the obtuse and convoluted puzzles...

Go play it!

its a great fucking game, having only heard of the original but never played it, i am having a blast.
the most masochistic metroidvania ever, just throws you in, whacks you over the head with a stick and yells "PLAY!" like in good ol times Very Happy
oh and i gotta say the soundtrack is incredible, every theme sounds like something i played in early 90s, and yet its an original soundtrack.

Holy crap, December 2015? I assumed this game was almost finished, thought I remembered hearing about a release in Spring.
