Yeah did that too. There's some cool looking mini area at the end, but some elite two-shotted me there Smile

Anyway, it's going to be long month of waiting ahead of us (or at least me). I didn't really want to do much in the beta knowing all will be wiped shortly after. Release can't come soon enough, looking forward to adventure further in lvl20+ zones.

For those who gonna buy the game, have you decided on the class you gonna play? After playing all of the professions (only till level 11) i narrowed it down to 3 professions...guardian, engineer and ranger.

Btw, does anyone know if once you buy all the weapons your class can use and you train those weapon's skills, they are what you will use till level 80? I'm asking because i trained all of the possible combos by level 2. If you have all the weapon skills discovered by level 2, what you get at level 50, for example?

Yes it is most efficient to take all weapons including the underwater ones, go to a low level area and unlock all skills. You will stick with those 5 weapon skills for all possible combinations till L80. The things you can gain while levelling further are the slot (also called utility) skills and traits. That is the specialisation part.

Edit: May I ask why warrior is no option for you? Warrior has high dps and many possible weapons but you can't tank with them and neither with Guardian. I have only played Ranger so far. I don't want to waste possible other experiences until game launches.

Well, i liked diversity of guardian the best. Passive buffs and at the same time they can be activated for some additional benefit, barriers/aegis to mitigate damage, etc...

Warrior is also nice, but i found him more of a class that nukes/bursts someting down quickly. I have also found that spirit weapons build on guardian can pump out some nice damage too. So, the only reason why i like guardian better is that diversity.

By the way, finishing some random event gives you either gold, silver or bronze medal. Now, i'm running through the zone, minding my own business and notification about nearby event pops out. I start running there and get in time just to land couple of hits on some random mini-boss dude and get rewarded with bronze medal.

Can i somehow do that event again to get gold medal since it gives better money, experience and karma?

Im affraid of getting this game, I basically played it straight this weekend along with path of exile. The norn main quest was so much fun, having to duel that big guy at the end and building up your char for the fight. But take the main story away and the rest of it, the grind, the dynamic events were kinda meh.

Still undecided if Im gonna get it come release, its fun but is a total time sink...

Why do you feel the dynamic events are grind? I think they are very well made, but lot of people tend to run off as soon as they are complete. The experience is so much better if you stick around and see what happens next.

For instance yesterday when I was out exploring the Asura starting zone, I ventured into one of the caves filled with skritts. I found Asuran scientist there, trying to subdue the skritts in order to test their IQ Very Happy So I helped him catch 10 of those skritts and followed him back to his lab, where he could experiment on them. He discovered, that while one single skritt is dumb as fuck, when you get more of them together, their intelligence raises exponentially. So they would fight back because they didn't like the idea of being held as a lab rats.

These kind of events really add so much to the experience, at least for me. It alleviate the feel of grind I know from classic quests in other MMORPG.

Now, the renown heart quest events on the other hand really feel like traditional quests most of the time. I don't like them. They should get rid off them, or at least make karma vendors in the area available without having to complete the heart renown quests so you don't have to complete them if you want to buy something with your karma.

No my point wasnt that dynamic events are grind but that they kinda felt uninteresting and because they're repeat able you dont get much satisfaction in completing one just to see the same merchant needing your help killing the same mobs over and over again.

The game is fun though dont get me wrong, I even liked the pvp which is what turns me of most mmos.

Holy fuck, lrn2video.

That's why we can't have nice things. Razz
But more seriously, if you want to feel like you accomplished something, a puzzle that is solved in a couple of seconds is not going to cut it. Isn't that the problem with the youth and nowadays games, everything gets dumbed down. In above vid though I think getting the keys is bugged. In the Sylvari area I found quite a few bugged events and skill quests as well.

Edit: A very frustrating jumping puzzle in an Asura area:

I tried out a Sylvari Ranger. Was pretty cool. I'm still not sure what the hell I want to play though. The thief was kinda cool and I play them often in MMO's. I also like to play tanks. Engineer seems pretty slick too. Usually I know what I want to play almost immediately on a game, but not with this one. Game is pretty fun though. I mapped my keys to QW RT G for my 5 abilities. I use ESDF to move, can't ever mess with WASD. I like the gameplay of GW2 though. Definitely looking forward to it.

Did you guys manage to get into PvP ? First time i tried it all the servers showed up as empty but that was solved after running the game as administrator. Problem was that even after that i was unable to join any game, clicking the Play button or the Join game button didn't do anything no matter what server i had selected Sad

I really wish i could've tried the pvp since i was a fan of the one in GW1. Sort of disappointed there is no more dedicated healer class, but i guess we'll have to make due.

From what i read on gw2 wiki or some other website, you get access to a number of racial skills. Not sure how many but will prolly be obvious once you reach the higher levels.

I think they are still working on good looking skins, they recently hired an artist for that.
Two vids:
Edit: Lol, skills not skins. Very Happy

@aevis: Didn't try it this BWE3, there were no problems during BWE2 with that so I am kinda surprised you had problems this weekend. Anayway I played on an overload server pretty much the whole weekend. I couldn't access WvWvW from there.

@Airwolf: There are mini dungeons (non instanced) scattered around the starter areas like the Font of Rhand:

The 1st real dungeon is indeed at level 30 (advised to be at least L35 there) called the Ascalon Catacombs.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Racial_skill

I figure that once you have enough skill points and are deep enough down the skills line you can take all of them.

By quick looking at the racial skills, for people who wants to min-max their character, human and sylvari would be the best choices for guardian profession.
