|
 |
Quote: | Sure enough, the prices VR-Zone quoted last week seem to be largely in effect at Newegg. 180GB, 120GB, and 60GB variants of the 330 Series SSD are down to $159.99, $109.99, and $69.99, respectively. (VR-Zone predicted cuts to $154, $104, and $69, numbers which I expect might apply to bulk orders.)
The same goes for the SandForce-powered 520 Series. I see Newegg charges $104.99 for the 60GB model, $149.99 for 120GB, $209.99 for 180GB, $269.99 for 240GB, and $519.99 for 480GB. Bare, "OEM" versions of those same SSDs are available at slightly lower prices. |

That's a scarily good price, yeah... $69 for an Intel 330? Man I want that. However, the article saying "Same goes for the SandForce-powered 550" makes it sound like the 330 isn't SF-powered, but it is, the 330 is SF228 - it was the 320 that didn't have SF.

Are the intel drives actually better than, say, OCZ or Corsair ones?
I can compare the speeds, obviously, but what about durability?

even with the price drops crucial M4 and samsung 830 series are the way to go.

OCZ follows.
64GB: 75 EUR (from 110)
128GB: 110 EUR (from 170)
256GB: 205 EUR (from 300)
512GB: 500 EUR (from 700)
The 512 GB is still a little pricy, but the top 3 are all well under 1 EUR/GB (the 64GB isn't) and these are some pretty hefty slashes. Yay for NAND prices dropping \o/
Edit: Samsung has as well. The 830 series is now substantially cheaper than even V4's, let alone Intel's 520. Between 65 and 75 cents per GB.

As far as I can remember, OCUK ship worldwide ... but I don't know the price. I don't think they mark as gift either, so you may get hit with import taxes, or you may not.

Yup. International shipping.

Went back with one of my Vertex 2 60 GB's today (it just died out of the blue, not even detected by the BIOS anymore). Awesome retailer is awesome, they replaced it with a Vertex 4 128 GB, that's how much SSDs have dropped in price
