Aye, I'm thinking the same.. though I have a hard time believing anything a puppet says, which is why I don't believe their hasty "clarification" over whether GBX told them to stop. Read the earlier comments and you'll see they weren't so quick to dispel user comments about GBX having a hand in the closure. It was only after a while when they suddenly said "Oh and btw... GBX didn't tell us to stop. Honest"

I think it's a mix of yours and mine, to be honest. They didn't like GBX having total control.. and GBX were the ones who put a hold on the project for now.

This is Interceptor's CEO's idea of what a new Duke game should be:

Seems like he doesn't really understand the character. Duke Nukem is not supposed to be serious, and he's definitely not supposed to be "someone who can be broken". If there is one thing the series doesn't need it's a gritty and serious change in tone.

It doesn't need a new direction, the character has always been over the top. It would be like making a Mario game with guns and gore.

You can be over the top and gritty/serious. It depends on the balance.
