Well, turns out that the second part of S5 wasn't actually half bad . Not even remotely as intense as S4 of course (that season will remain unsurpassed), but I liked it.
For the first time I'm struggling to finish watching a season, so uninspired and linear.. I hope it gets better later on, but still, these are the weakest episodes so far.
S5 was fine, not as good as S4 but its up there with the other great seasons.
People were just expecting so much after S4 they were disappointed and S5 is now second to last on most fan lists.
S6 is just not written very well and has its fair share of plotholes. They nailed the cliffhanger but thats about it.
Now that the showrunners know its only 2 seasons left they can finally tailor their story towards a definite end point.
This didnt help Lost but I have no doubt that this is going to vastly improve the final seasons of Dexter.
I have very high expectations for S7.

there's gonna be some step sister and step brother sex though. \o/ wonder how awkward that must be since they split up \o/
I'm pretty sure the sexytime role will be filled by Yvonne Strablabla. Also, other than that European lady in S2, Dexter only gets it on with the blondes

But after S6 it can only get better.
This is what I believe, too. I don't know what writers were thinking, but S6 simply doesn't feel like Dexter anymore, all the magic is lost..it's basically a macabre soap opera now. I really hope they learn from their mistakes, the have to!
They had a great run, and it was quite fun but now they are stretching it like gum and it has lost all it's magic. Just give it a good, satisfying ending and let it rest.
I would like it to end in a grand trial. If they wouldn't brush the whole cliffhanger under the rug with "this is the only one I ever did" bullshit, it would be a great opening for the last season. The whole world would see his kill list, see him as a troubled vigilante and get pissed and riot as they execute him. Would be a good farewell to the show.
Granted it isn't the greatest show or the best example but Supernatural turned into Stupidunnatural after Season 5 where it was originally supposed to end.
They're milking the poor cow, honestly I don't think they'll ever reach the same quality as the first 4 seasons, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now..if S7 will be another disaster, well then I'll be done with the show
