I'm gonna need a new laptop for university but also my pc is getting rather old. So I'm thinking that if I could buy a new mobo, CPU and RAM and also a laptop good/fast enough for MS Word, movies and other basic stuff I could worry about getting a SSD and a replacement for my GTX460 later on. I've been fairly out of the loop on hardware componets lately and know snot about laptops so I'm wondering how much would I be looking to spend in euros. Also, is it the right time for such upgrades or should I wait a bit for new stuff to be released? Budgetwise I'm guessing that I won't be willing to spend more than 700-1000 EUR (a rough estimate) but preferably the price should be as low as possible. Lastly, all points considered would it be wise to make such a purchase together or should I buy the laptop first and worry about my home PC later?

Thanks for all the advice!

No replies yet but I made a bit of research myself. For the laptop I was thinking around 300-400 EUR but I'm not sure what company to go for. Lenovo is supposed to be great quality so would one from that price range be reasonable?

For the desktop I was thinking maybe i7 3770K or i5-3570k. Are those good for overclocking? Looking for something that will last me a long time. Not sure about mobos though... I was thinking maybe Asus Sabertooth Z77 or is that overkill? Could I go for something at half the price?

Finally, are there any compatibilty issues I should be aware of? Will my GTX460 and Corsair VX550W be fine? Also do older mechanical harddrives work well with newer mobos?

EDIT:

After browsing the store a bit I came up with this. Includes an SSD since it fit in the budget. The mobo and SSD I picked without doing a lot of research so comments please. Smile

EDIT2:

After a bit more research this looks like a good purchase:

No idea about the laptop though. I was thinking maybe a Dell Inspiron or Acer Aspire?

A quick question! After I made the purchase I realized that the Alpenföhn Triglav is rather big. Will the Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram fit in with it?
