yeah i absolutely love sg1 but the spinoff is kinda disapointing me

when i watched the first episodes which usually really try to be very good so many people keep it up i wasnt even that impressed

it starts with the atlantis set itself , its rather generic and boring if u ask me , the sg1 base after 8 sez still looks cool or special but not this 1

the enemy wraith is supposed to be superior to the tauri but their "darts" can be killed with 1 rpgshot Rolling Eyes

the cast = i like the lead scientist (i think rodney mckay) and the guy with irish accent but i dont like every f*****g one else

kayla = talks like shez falling asleep constantly
the base commander(woman) = not impressive at anything
the action hero (military leader) = tries so hard to be a "jack o'neil" clone that its embarassing

if it were up to me they can make another 10 sez of sg1 and stop with atlantis

...and yes they cancelled enterprise (the 4th seazon wasnt even supposed to be made) but i think its for the better , they should really give the whole trekkie saga a breather for now

after all even most of the trekkies found enterprise to be subpar

Aha, ok. If that's the case I should update/create the other threads. Personally I only watch pre's.

Man did you get a wrong number. I agree they are good. But I liked the original cast best when O'neil was still the leader. And the new leader tries to copy jack way to much. Like when the rifle is shot he tries to act just like Jack. He should get his own personality.

athough Stargate SG1 is still good and looks good for series 9 even with orginal members not present for certain episodes, i think Stargate Atlantis is quickly becoming a better show at the moment.

and another good site for both series is

I'm glad Carter and O'Neill are gone (hope they stay gone), to me they always were the weaker links.

First time I've ever felt SG-1 was anything beyond a pretty comical McGyver-dry Sci-Fi.

I don't watch series for "funny quirks" or hot main characters. I watch them for story and content + good acting, tension and authenticity. (See the Battlestar-thread for more ranting on that).

Strange thing in the newsgroups , the battlestar people hate the stargate
lovers, and vice versa... but going both ways, both series have their
ups and downs.. my preference is stargate, and yours is battlestar.

I don't hate people because they have different opinions on some TV-series.

I just prefer Battlestar, that's it.

I watch both though.

I always found carter annoying, in a sort of 'look how intelligent I am' kind of way. The new intelligent guy in atlantis (bear in mind i've only watched the first episode) seems to be just a 'get the job done' kind of person, rather then a pretentious egoist. But I always found O'neil pretty funny.

The new colonel seems like a hardass, which is always interesting when coupled with more rebellious types, and it's nice to have the commander of the expedition being a woman.

I'm looking forward to how the characters develop.

Agreed, also, she could found the "Hey! I'm a feminist too"-foundation Razz

If you mean the "Canadian", there's lots of egoism to go around in his character.

I think he was pretty good in the earlier seasons (1 through 3), then he got this blasé attitude where he really doesn't seem to act any more. I find it rather disturbing... especially when he walks up to Anubis and says: "Oh! Come on! Who talks like that?" --- I dunno, I'd like it if the system lords were as ruthless as everyone describes them to be.

But then, this series wouldn't be allowed to watch for all the kids that like them, I suppose.

Are you talking about SG-1 or Atlantis now? There's a new colonel in each. *gets confuzed*

The colonel in SG-1 is none other than Ben Browder (another one of my favourite actors... you know how I get).

And as for the black haired woman, that would be Claudia Black, I really like her a lot... don't know if she's on par with Ben in terms of acting, but still pretty good. She can't really appear to me as anyone else than Aeryn Sun of the Plizar regiment to me Wink

Richar Dean Anderson is great, and so is the rest of the original cast if you ask me... Season 7 started to go downhill, season 8 gave me chills, Atlantis was ok the first episodes then it went to a cartoon/childish show Twisted Evil

I always enjoyed SG-1 being a show, (started) with a low budget, yet gave us great special effects, great cast, daniel,o'neill, carter, etc etc.

*What I loved about SG-1, they always tried to come up with a new idea to change a season, each season is completly different, most shows tends to dry up on this part

*Music/Sfx, nothing to add, they were great (good production locations)

*Actors, same I loved evryone, some guest actors were annyoing, Atlants and season 8 brought some bad actors

*Had humour, didn't escolate to "cheesiness" like "buffy", "Andromeda" etc etc

*Didn't need to have "OMg da uber r0x he's hot" actors like "24","OC", glad they used regular tv/movie actors, until 2005.....

*I will buy season 1-8 on dvd (complete box) but I have no faith for Atlantis noir SG-1 anymore. that new colonel really dropped the bomb if you ask me.............who knows maybe SG-1 will be better

EDIT:Unlike some people (rare) I loved O'neill's humour and Carter is HOT+great actress Smile

RDA Was one of the big elements of SG-1
