Twenty four locations (Some of them quite big.) 80+ NPC and 34 quests (Some of them repeatable.) with a bunch of new creatures and also variants of existing ones along with many new items.

I like the new areas a lot though the quests are fairly straightforward but the story is OK, plus it also enhances many other things in Skyrim. Smile
(There are female Falmer now, for all those whom wanted that.)

EDIT: Some more screens I took, this here being of one of the later cave areas.

Thanks JB, I guess I'll buy it once the mods get updated.

Since the files are just .BSA and .ESM and since this DLC is a bit more expensive than normal perhaps first you might download it and try the starting point of the DLC up to the decision point (It's not too far in.) and see how you feel about it?

You can also see some of the changes it brings to the rest of Skyrim this way without going through the entire scenario. Smile
(Steam won't really scan anything or such and it wouldn't really mean anything anyway, it's just another mod basically and you can't get the achievements without owning the DLC properly either.)

EDIT: Yeah some of the larger overhauls could perhaps have a bit more impact on the DLC than what few mods I have active, there's certainly a risk of conflict whenever a DLC is released and used on a modded game though it's often updated fairly quick if the mod author is still active. Smile
(That said there's still a number of mods incompatible with the 1.6 update and some that would be fixed by re-saving them with the 1.6 Creation Kit are also still not fixed.)

I still wonder why my performance is so horrible, seems like i'm the only one having this problem..

Should i go thru the hassle with older drivers and shit just for this dlc? Confused

Went back to 11.10 (from 12.7 beta) and my performance was SOLID 60 again with 1 card (whereas on older drivers, i can't get solid 60 with 1 or 2 cards).
So for me, AMD officially fucked up their drivers after 11.10

5000 series?
(Since the 4000 line is now on legacy.)

Could be something, there's two betas for 12.7 and a more recent driver was leaked some days ago (Which is what I'm currently using as it fixes some very well known but still not often discussed issues with the 7000 series - 12.6 was meant to fix most of these as well but it didn't solve everything.) and 12.7 CAP2 was released yesterday but contains no further Skyrim improvements.

I guess most optimizations and updates for current drivers target the 7000 series code mainly though it shouldn't cause any adverse effects on older hardware but maybe there's some problem, I'm not too experienced with this type of thing.

2x 6870, but i have been having it since like 5 versions before 12.7, if you dig thru this topic you can actually see that i brought this up before.
Today i did some testing, and 11.10 is (for me) the most solid driver to play skyrim on, others have issues (crossfire on or off)

Imo, you should have just bought a good Nvidia card instead of messing with ATI and a dual card setup.

Well it was for me, either spend ~500 euro for a 580 or get a second 6870 for ~140 euro and have the same (even better sometimes) performance (if crossfire works properly, like in BF3)

About six - eight hours in total, plus there's two different sides so you can always replay it again from the other side if you save before doing that choice.

Depending on side quests and the other stuff it adds there's also a lot to do even after finishing the main DLC storyline. Smile

So it's about 6-8 hr for the main story and maybe few more hours of side quests ?

The side quests and other stuff would definitively take a lot longer, some of the side missions can be pretty lengthy on their own.

EDIT: More screens, possibly some minor spoilers.

Well if you dislike exploring the downside is that some of the quests and areas you'll visit will get a bit tedious, I'm just about finished with the Dawnguard side of the DLC other than one side quests and the repeatable misc quests, overall it's pretty good compared to Bethesda's earlier DLC but there's a lot of walking and you'll often have a companion with you though it can take care of itself most of the time so you don't have to help too much.

EDIT: Textures are usually 1024x1024 though some are 2048x2048 however they're the same as the base game and not the high-resolution DLC sized textures so there's some noticeable blur when both are used together.
(Still it's pretty detailed, I'd imagine the default resolution is still bigger than the X360 version textures.)

(For example the HiRes DLC had 2048x4096 resolution for dragons, here they are 1024x2048 instead.)

Hi,

I have a question about your character becoming a vampire:

If you decide to join the vampire faction, are you then still able to move normally at daylight over the landscape and in the cities? Or does the sun kill you at once? I mean I would hate being forced to play the rest of the game in darkness only or at night ... or is there another way for a "daywalker-vampire" ?

thx

You get weakened I believe but there shouldn't be any major problems unless you become a actual Vampiric lord, also with the DLC you'll blend in much better despite that they changed the default base appearance and eye textures.
( skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21655 I don't mind but that red line sure is ugly.)

As for the textures it's a shame that bethesda hasn't bothered shipping proper PC textures, but it will be fixed pretty soon anyway.

If it's anything like Oblivion/FO3/NV DLC's, body/texture etc. replacers shouldn't cause big issues, but obviously if there's some new environment textures in the DLC interspersed with the old stuff it might mismatch if you have installed some higher-resolution replacers. Same with faces; if the DLC has new/unique ones, the replacer mods will have to make an addon specifically for those.
