Personally when it comes to graphics I'm using the official HD texture pack +

Vurt's Skyrim Flora Overhaul
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141/

Water And Terrain Enhancement
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268

Enhanced Night
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/85

Xenius Character Enhancement
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2356

Enhanced Distant Terrain
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1598

Quality World Map
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929

Serious HD Retexture Skyrim
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2146

Crimson Tide - Blood
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12798

These are the "big ones", then there are tons of other smaller mods. Razz (I'm not using SkyrimHD since it changes the style too much imo, but you can try that as well.)

edit: haven't played the game in the last weeks, so maybe there are better mods available Smile

oh yeah, the fxaa injector mod is exactly what was needed to get awesome graphisms, even with older machines like mine and now, I just can't stop play Skyrim Razz
It is the way the whole game should have been and looked AT FIRST and not this kind of greyish dirt visuals.

How many of you here play with "hardcore" mods?

Example:
Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival
Imps More Complex Needs

I'm seriously thinking on starting a new game with these plus a few complementing mods.

On my previous save, which I didn't finish, I played as a right-hand mace wilding warrior, left-hand mage and heavy-armor user. This time, I was thinking on trying playing as a ranger: bow and light armor mostly. Hunting to survive...

What do you guys think?

I'm bored.

Plus, maxing out a few new skills past halfway trough the game? Sure, it could be done. But of the perks? WHAT OF THE PERKS? For them new skills? Sad

A new game is needed.

A new game is needed.

You then install a mod that lets you buy perk points.

While it does feels like cheating, it's not a bad idea. Thanks.

I think I don't know why people start new characters when it's quite possible to max out everything with just one

I started out as an archer, moved to 1H, then 2H, then Destruction mage...

If you don't fast travel everywhere, there's plenty of time to max them all out

That being said, since my old modded save was so buggy, I'm starting a new game myself

have you tried the lunari race ? such pretty faces are really worthy to start new game for each of them... Very Happy

ok i ran into a progress breaking bug in dawnguard

 Spoiler:

EDIT: nvm did some digging and found out that item codes are dependent on the load order since dawnguard isn't part of the main , hence why the code for the item wasn't correct on the wiki

Dawnguard should ideally be #2 in load order (IE loaded first since #0 is Skyrim.esm and #1 is Update.esm both of which you can't control.) to avoid conflicts and issues, as you saw that would mean the FormID is then starting with 02 instead of 00. Smile

This can also be seen easily by finding the item name you want (elder scroll in this example.) and simply using the console command help which would be - help "elder scroll" 4 in this case.
(4 to signify only filtering items and such, not scripts or console commands.)

WTF Bethesda?! I thought they Beta tested this?!

I'm level 8 now and there are random Vampire attacks everywhere and they kill NPCs in and outside of towns. Stablemaster, Carriage driver.. they don't give a fuck...

So I guess this will break some quests... way to go Beth...

It seems you found one of the most discussed feature of Dawnguard, one of the reasons I use this and have used it since it was released.

BAh...can't decide if I should side with the vampires or dawnguard. I read that if you're a werewolf and convert to a vampire lord, you can become a werewolf again. Might try that since I like being a werewolf Razz Its too bad that you can only change back once, would be nice if you can switch back and forth.

The default timer I believe is something like every two days (With some randomness.) so if you visit towns a lot or do things like fast traveling you probably risk that problem with often encountering mid to high-level vampires (Depending on player level.) and if you are already a very high level or max level then these master vampires will be able to handle quite a few guards without going down plus normal townspeople will get involved as well and those will die in just a few seconds unless essential (Like kids for example or main quest related characters.) which causes issues such as leaving towns and settlements near empty and thus missing out on many of the quests offered or other services like merchants.

This workaround solves that by as the description states resetting the timer as long as you keep the item equipped however random encounters and scripted ones will still happen so on occasion you might encounter a (vampire) traveler or assassin near a settlement though it'll be quite different from having a entire group (With hounds and gargoyles.) spawn near the city gates and forcing their way into the actual city and killing everyone. Very Happy
(I believe this also protects against the assassin encounter where a lone vampire pilgrim or traveler is assigned to kill a specific NPC in a village/town you are in.)

EDIT: Oh it seems ENB was updated again.
http://enbdev.com/index_en.html
(Some new settings and further fixes, ideally the config file has to be updated to support these changes which is a bit tedious but it's not too difficult, just takes a minute or so comparing the files.)

Thanks JB. Lucky that I'm pretty low level atm. The Dogs were chewing those NPCs away already... don't want to imagine what the Gargoyles would do

Btw, I can't believe I missed out on these mods here (so effin good!)

Bandolier - Bags and Pouches
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16438
(Dawnguard Version: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22119)

Wearable Lanterns
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17416
(Absolutely awesome if you don't want to use stupid torches and especially no pathetic magic to shed some light. Works very well with Climates of Tamriel too because you can adjust the brightness of the Lanterns. And you can buy or craft them! Sidenote: Merchants have a book to configure the mod and you can do some aditional changes when you drop the Lantern. Works with Bandolier!)

What race are you?

Dawnguard introduces a additional script that checks the players race and of course that's only valid for the ten default races, custom races have to be updated or use workarounds to get by this just as with the other three or what it was points in the game that work the same. Very Happy

I think i'm human, no custom.

Got these mods running, so doubt that those will conflict
