Oh and it seems the Mechromance isn't part of the game yet and it is still in development, since the devs keep talking about their "plans for it" and how they haven't "nailed down the details" Sorry about that DR, it's not my fault VG247 made it sound like the DLC was launching with the game. Yanno.. because... well.. they actively stated "at launch" and stuff
Yeah, I've seen what they said, which is why I was confused. Randy alone said it countless times in every interview that the class is barely in the beginning of the production.
Edit: 0:45 in that trailer. I think THAT is Zer0's voice. Or maybe he has something integrated in that suit that makes him sound like different persons?!
I guess I figured that (like in bl1) while there are talents or entire trees that did not match your play style/preference you could always avoid them and instead focus on those you do like. For example I liked to play siren but didn't like to phase walk, so I avoided any phase walk talents and had a great time. Correct me if I'm wrong but you'l end up with 1.5 tree (maybe 2 on second play through).
Anyways thinking about it again the 'unwanted' girlfriend tree might be compared to day-1 dlc super gear you get from the start and never replace. 'You can choose not to use it' is a bit of a fail argument because those who want to avoid it prefer it not to be available at all. Certainly not a skill tree that will always be in your face.
Let's hope those 'maybes' and 'plans'.. turn into something else entirely.
Yup, it certainly seems so - "It's" voice has changed a few times and, as we've seen before, It also has a faceplate that uses emotes to convey feelings -- which is so freaking cool anyway
@secure
Yeah, you're probably right - it's impossible to max all three trees in a single play anyhow, so I could just ignore the third one.. but like you said as well; I'd rather it just wasn't "in your face" and not there in the first place. I think the idea of the mode is good, allowing normal gamers to bring in people who aren't usually all that hot on FPS titles (like my wife, who is as big a gamer as I am.. yet dislikes FPSes) I just think it should have been a game/server mode rather than taking up a skill tree of a character non-newbies might want to play as.
The first game looks the same, but with even less quality. There are ways to substantially improve its visual quality though. The first one looks amazing sometimes if you disable the outlines and use the FXAA injector to add some color to the game.
First one has low quality textures there and there, but it certainly doesnt look that bad. In that trailer, it looks sometimes its being rendered on some voodoo card .
i downloaded a configurater for borderlands 1 , alowed me to set textures to 4096*4096 and disable some weirdo border shader and added some better fog and bloom, together woth morphological AA from my ati 6970 the game looks prett crisp now, still have some framedrops in certain areas, but playable.
gonna do a final playthroug before b2

It sets those options in the engine ini file that define max allowed size of textures for certain objects, of course the actual textures will still be their original resolution (And even if they were upscaled that would just add VRAM usage without extra detail unless further sharpened or otherwise enhanced.) so it doesn't really do much unless there's replacement textures to use instead which are greater in resolution than what was originally specified.
Yeah, that's what I though too -- the base texture resolutions aren't that size so it would just be upscaling them and making them look LESS impressive.
i also set d3d10allow=true for dx10 but not sure if it does anything, nobody from gearbox commented on missing dx10 since launch (even dow they said in all prelaunch sites it would have dx10 ) most config stuff in borderlands doesnt do anything except fog and bloom stuff.
i dont even know how people played this game before morphological AA , the jaggies where so bad , its the only game sofar i have ever used morpho AA, (not to mention the default FOV crap )
that border shaderremover really make things look better , i have no idea why this border shader was enabled default, it also allows to fix the UI problem where some guns have more stats then you can see in the game.
here is a videostream of a guy who uses the same settings with bordershader off who i asked how he did his tweaks and stream windowed http://www.twitch.tv/pesticide/b/328417470 and he lnked me that thread
It still looks more like gel to me but the cloth effect is as impressive as always, particles, debris and such I usually wouldn't notice.
(Apex Smoke 100.000 particles would definitively be noticed by it's performance impact though, ha ha.)
Unfortunately it seems they're still on 2.x (2.8.4 apparently.) instead of PhysX 3.x and Apex 1.1 instead of 1.2 but hopefully we'll see better adaption eventually.
(Performance improvements for example plus the various new effects and other possibilities.)
EDIT: Still the effects look pretty good when viewing from this video.
Yup, all the so-called "fluid" just looks like gel or jelly.. there's nothing realistic about it whatsoever and all its going to do is rape performance. Cloth looks okay but it also looks too flimsy, like it's made out of cobwebs or something. It's nice for "free" on nV hardware but only if it's not detrimental to performance.
Still can't believe that they sort of (at least to me) went with this bullshit gimmick instead of giving us the DX10/11 renderer that pretty much everyone wants...

Well at least they've made significant ragdoll and basic physics improvements, hitting that bunny or snake in Gothic 3 and seeing it shoot away as if it was a rubber ball while funny wasn't very realistic, felt a bit floaty too or how to describe it but I believe that's more or less fully fixed by now.
(That was like version 2.3.0 or some such, maybe even lower, Nvidia took over at around 2.5.0 and made some real changes from 2.6.0 to 2.8.0 plus of course the full rework that is 3.0.0 something.)
It has potential but for GPU assisted physics to really take off (Though Nvidia has done very well I admit.) I guess there needs to be some neutral standard, AMD is promoting Bullet (With limited success.) and Nvidia is promoting PhysX which kinda leaves Havok I guess though they've also improved tremendously over the years.

Money talks. Whoever has the deepest cash pot, has the final saying.

well, how "realistic" can it look, in the style borderlands is made i think the fluids look exactly how they should look like, in that art style.
Alice: Madness Returns ran smoothly. And it looked like it had heavy PhysX effects.
Minus the oil and a seldom used smoke effect it was a pretty good demonstration of hardware PhysX, I could be a bit wrong but I believe those were the two really draining features there.
Cryostasis while a really old game is still a bit unique in how it tried to enhance the very game with it instead of just additional effects used here and there but it's also one of the worst performing titles though of course it's a early version of PhysX even with the 2.0 update with GPU acceleration support.
EDIT: Oh I didn't think about that, still I believe Borderlands had some water effects and areas so it doesn't need to be the current "globs" of liquid splashing on impact.
(Then again to create realistic fluid with that particle effect you probably need way more particles than it is sane to use thus tanking performance totally.)
