while breaking bad is indeed an amazing show and among my favs,
the writing in the wire and sopranos is in a different world compared to other shows.
I fail to see how the writing in the wire could be better then this, or even come anywhere near as close.
This had to be one of the better episodes i've ever seen on a TV program. It was an emotional roller coaster. I've yet to see an episode of the wire that came anywhere near to delivering what Breaking Bad delivers on a consistant basis.
This is a pew pew pew show. While good (like others, such as The Shield), it comes nowhere as close to the complexity of The Wire and what it achieved. It is understandable why many people would prefer shows like this or The Shield over The Wire. The instant gratification here is much higher here "on a consistant basis", whereas The Wire requires you to invest emotionally in characters, sometimes over several seasons.
Yes. Both shows I mentioned are good. Indeed, The Shield moved more toward more serious story arcs towards its fourth season onward, and so did Breaking Bad throughout its third and fourth seasons. This season, not so much however. I am disappointed with it compared to last season.

You weren't on the edge of your seat dripping with sweat watching "The Wire" Season 5? It was such an emotional rollercoaster, I was biting my nails wondering if the reporter was going to get his license revoked for writing fake news.

The only thing "The Wire" S5 did was require me to turn my brain off.
i REALLY don't want to see Jesse as an emotional wreck again, it might be realistic and all but wow is that shit a complete drag to watch, its almost as tiring as watching / listening to Skylar. Anyways great episode, monday is the best day of the week, once again
they'll introduce an 'archenemy' a-la Gus this season, or they'll just continue with the style shown so far, the Tales of the Happy Trio with the "only" threat being the DEA.
Either way, after this episode something has to happen, everything looks too easy for them.
Maybe he was always smart, just needed some guidance?
exactly, they ve always portrayed jesse as a smart, but confused and mislead, young man.
the fact alone that he is able to cook meth on a similiar level to walt shows that he isnt as dumb as it looks like early in the show.
A lot of people lack confidence enough to believe in themselves even though they know the right answers they will hesitate because they're not confident enough to express them. Fear is the mindkiller.
