So the only hope of getting proper mouse movement is through a patch, right?
It seems so. I'm scarily ab-using the derptroller lately, but when it comes to console ports, it's almost inevitable

so the quasi release is fullyl working or better to wait a bit more?
Works like a charm
thx. and yea, about the derpbox controler, it is becoming almost a necesity these days. either the controls require ridiculous multiple key presses with m+kb combo or the mouse look is jittery while buttery smooth with a derp pad. unless its an FPS with challenging difficulty, a derpbox controler is my choice these days. Heck, i even played dead island with the derp pad initially until i installed directors cut mod that made it too dificult to rely on the derp aim

Well, the gamepad is not an option for me in this kind of games.
I think you might change your mind a bit after playing. While it's certainly possible to play on the keyboard and mouse, it's not very comfortable or optimal, especially with that horrible mouse control I use the mouse for gunfights only.. the rest of the time is spent on the controller.
Well, I'll wait for a patch if I'll be bothered too much by it, but as I said, the gamepad is not an option for me. They kind of promised post-release support for the PC version so let's hope we'll see some fixes.
Game doesn't work for me. Downloaded 10gig version, applied 1.4 patch, tried both cracks I could find. White window pops-up for a moment and closes right away. No error whatsoever.

i had the same issue with the crack that was included in my usenet download. tried the crack from that bullshit skidrow site and guess what.. it worked. did you try that one?
kb/m works just fine here and the fighting is piss easy using arrow keys also with autohotkey fuck conrollers for this game no way it can be better consoltard

Installed fine, I grabbed the the limited edition as well, with the 1.4 patch and crack. Working great, runs great. Using PS3 controller. Into the collection this game goes.

I've already tried two cracks so far. And yes, one of them ended up being the same as the one in the "skidrow" site. Still nothing.
How is the shooting with derp pad? And is it really that bad with mouse and keyboard? I HATE using derp pad for shooting, I get better results controlling the mouse with my dick and keyboard with face.
It's bad with the mouse and keyboard (IMO OF COURSE, IMO IMO) because the free look sucks. If you play GTAIV or Saints Row on PC, you can look around in all directions at all times, on foot or in a vehicle and it just feels good.
With this, it seems to only 'feel good' once you're still, even I've started using a controller because of it. The fighting is a bit better this way too. Unless they fix KB+M I don't see any real benefit of keeping that control scheme
As for shooting, it seemed to lock on for me anyway
I didn't notice it initially but yes during enemy motion and vehicle chase sequences the aim will "hover" along with how they move, makes precise headshots a bit more difficult but I've managed after a bit more trial and error, have to compensate for the movement and aim a bit in front, good way to take out tires and such but it's more satisfying to shoot the actual driver.
And yeah camera movement while in a vehicle is a bit restrictive as well, I don't need to look straight up or down but it would be nice to be able to change view position or such, nothing I can't handle though.
Also as you said the combat controls are rather sensitive but I get by just fine with mouse and keyboard.
(Never spam attacks, that just ques up stuff and gets you beat up, taking it slow and precise - always countering when available - works much better and training in the dojo for each enemy archetype is very recommended.)
Got wanted level up to five during a shootout against a few of those triad guards that can be encountered near collectible items, that was pretty hectic seeing all the police and different types of equipment used, lasted only a few minutes but it was really fun.
I'm having such a lot of fun with this game since I started playin it on saturday using a russian key. The thing was so laggt all the driving jobs were a total pain so today I decided to move my steam folder to a faster hard drive. Not such a great idea lol.
I assiduously followed steams instructions for doin this but I suspect 'sleeping dogs' doesn't agree with steam on the best method cause it will prolly come as no surprise to thers who have attempted this fraught task, now the game doesn't work at all.
It claims to want to update gets to 0 secs left then hangs n hangs n hangs, so I'm gonna d/l ze crack and put the $20 attempt to go legit as a foolish fit of premature senility bought about by impatience with the dearth of decent games in 2012.
Lesson learned no more giving cash no matter how small a sum, to mega corps of any ilk.
I think I swore the same thing after the diablo 3 blizzard "burn the derps" fiasco.
Alla this drm just overly complicates what should be a simple install, to the point many of us can spend more time wrassling with the arcane systems and structures drm imposes on game buyers, than we do killin citizens in the latest virtual world.
Is it just me, or are some of the story missions strangely disjointed? It seems like there are suddenly new things introduced that Wei knows all about, but it was never previously imparted to the player. I wonder if they cut a bunch of stuff. I could understand cutting back on cutscenes for time/cost/etc. reasons, but a few phones calls or even just text messages between certain missions would be enough to flesh things out.
Now that I've started doing story missions and not just side-missions, I've noticed what you're talking about -- quite a few of them jump from one place to another, talking about skills and conversations and tools that, well, I had no idea about. It's very odd indeed.
