Just finished a great fun session at US West02.

The game is definitely running so much better now. It's really relatively smooth and very playable though the gpu usage remains very low, so as consequence you get low fps in big fights (around 30 fps). Still they don't become unplayable like a few days ago. But like I said, when they optimize the gpu usage this shit will be butter smooth no doubt.

The game has so much potential for epic fights, I can't wait to see people (including myself) playing as part of outfits. The environments are unprecedentedly vast in the fps genre.

I tell you guys if this is early beta (it will most likely run for at least a few months), then I can be confident about the quality of the final product. I just hope they don't lose perspective and don't start rushing things out, at this pace they're heading towards great things.

Do you have a Twitter/PC Gamer key? They are supposed to send a big batch of invites today.

If not you should be registered at least. In the next two weeks after the Twitter/PC Gamer keys are served they'll start inviting all people registered on their site:

I've already got a key which is registered to my account, only they havent sent out the invite email to allow me to download the client...

If i try through the download link as soon as i enter my details it just returns to the main page so obviously its not active active yet on the station account :S

Yes, that's because nobody except veterans and us lucky nvidia key holders Very Happy is invited so far. But like I said, they mentioned something about sending a big batch to people with PC Gamer/Twitter priority keys.

I'm not expecting anything PS2 beta related from SoE till after GW2 launch and by then it's too late as GW2 will take all my time up.

I did get a PCGamer key but it's been worthless so far. Priority key, my ass Razz

Well I think it's only fair that the veterans have priority over everyone else. In the case of nivida keys, it was just a fuck-up, and some of us just got very lucky Razz

Such BS Smedley comes out with. He said 1-2 weeks ago that priority keys would start to receive invites from today, 20th August.

I'll wait till they actually send me an email which will probably be after they launch at this rate Smile

Haha well you're not missing much, the game has a huge potential but the beta is still very "beta", especially performance-wise, without considering the lag for us with crappy internet Very Happy

A couple of big patches and everything will be better. Razz

You just didnt understand what he was saying. They have been very clear about the priority of keys.

Subs > PS1 Vets > PCGamer > Priority Keys(which are twitter keys facebook keys etc) > Normal beta applicants.

I understood very well what he said on twitter about a week or so ago. That priority keys start to get invites from 20th August whcih is today.

But now it's 1-2 weeks more. Too late for me now to play a laggy beta in 2 weeks time as GW2 is out on Saturday and I'm a leader of a guild there so will be busy Razz

??? PS1 vets were getting in on the 20th. Never been prio keys.

Yes it does. You are just not a current sub and you should be getting in today or tomorrow. You are a PS1 VET not an active subscriber. Pretty sure you had to sign up for the beta, tho.

I'd already signed up for beta on that account thankfully... It just shows as inactive currently. whereas the other account i have which I entered a twitter key on says active but cant download on it...

Vets shouldnt require keys so I think thats it but honestly I was fucking up bad with that thing earlier myself

How should your account look once activated? I was hoping I'd be considered a vet, but as it stands I've yet to be activated (as far as I can tell).

The most obvious sign that your account is activated for beta is being able to download the beta client here:

http://www.planetside2.com/download

If your account isn't activated yet it will just redirect you to a message saying "

"This Account is Already Signed-up for Beta" blah blah blah

You guys running on full settings fluid? runs nice enough for me... Not AMAZING during the massive fuckfests that happen.... Looks really nice Smile

Couldn't quite figure anything out. Just grabbed a gun and ran around trying to kill people but didnt look into stats buying guns etc...

had another ~4 h session last night.
could not log to my tr char (pressed play, nothing happened) so i made a nc one.
game has fluid, but still i manage to kill only 2 people (and die maybe 5-6 time ? 2 times suicide). i felt like runing like a headless chicken, with no ideea where to find people to shoot at, even if i did instant action in the middle of battlefield.
what the hell i'm missing/doing wrong ?

Last night I got my ass kicked pretty bad, mostly due to the other factions being superior but also to enemies skipping/teleporting across my screen making it nearly impossible to get some bullet hits. I think the server I was on was kinda laggy today.

My recommendation when you have no clue what to do is to look for a "Galaxy" in your deployment screen. Spawning on a Galaxy will get you teaming up with other people in your faction more quickly. Spawn on galaxy, fight/hack consoles until the base/lab falls in posession of your faction, then you can decide if go back on board the Galaxy in your way to capture another base or simply stay defending the recently captured one. Rinse and repeat.

You managed to get in, awesome Very Happy

It runs quite good for me after the patch, but there's still some stuttering/hiccups during fights. Though I've just realized that setting the sound quality on low helps the performance
