From what I've experienced, the Ambient Occlusion and Anti Aliasing take most resources and cause the game to stutter like mad on mid range systems.
I have those two on normal and all the other settings on maximum.
The Hd textures dont seem to impact the performance that much.
You can also disable the motion blur this will make the game seem a bit more fluid.

I have everything reduced to the lowest settings, and I get a average FPS of 35, min 16 and Max 72, but when I play it, it seems to always feel like 10 Laughing

Game uses some very heavy AA, even at normal it cuts fps by around 20. I suggest putting it to "0" in graphics xml file and force FXAA. I have now everything maxed out (expect ambient oclusion on normal) + FXAA on and i get 60fps + all the times (with normal ingame AA i get 45fps+). Very taxing, and doesnt even look better than forced FXAA.

Let us know how it works for you, I'll be trying to do that too.
Cheers for the tip Breezer_, I was trying to think of a solution to override the "normal" antialiasing the game enforces.

Just finished it after about 25 hours. Had around 75% completion i think.

Overall i would give it a good 7.5/10.

Graphics were pretty good most of the time, especially the rainy streets at night with the lights So Much Win

Story was pretty decent too, despite some of the plotholes.

But the best was of course the melee combat Very Happy

My screenshots, some of which i'm pretty proud lol Very Happy:

Lockpicking is rather annoying when using a keyboard.

It's simple and straightforward but sometimes the way you do it changes from holding up and pressing left to releasing up then holding left, and sometimes left doesn't even register.

I'm trying to pick this lock with 5 pins, first 3 work fine but the last 2 don't seem to register my key presses for some reason.

So annoying.

You card is fine. Its the dual core that's killing you i think. Its not a bad processor per se but sandbox GTA type games on PC tend to benefit quite a bit from a Quad or more.

I know upgrading from a E8400 to a 2500k made quite a difference for me in GTA IV. Granted this aint GTA but still a game with lot of stuff and effects going at the same time in a sandbox environement. My card is the same as yours except i have the 2 gb version.

Crying or Very sad You could have said that more gently Laughing

I really don't know what it could be - everything is all new and lovely, but I just don't get the performance I would expect - even other games just don't feel as 'snappy' as my old 5870.

Newest drivers of course. :ponder:

It's because of your CPU for sure. That CPU can't even handle your video card.I'm sure if you change your processor it will effect even your video card's performance.

It might be an older chip, but I don't see quite how it's a bottleneck. It seems to me that people think you MUST now have an i7 or your system is pointless - I've not seen any hard evidence to say that my GPU is running much slower than it should be.

I've obviously checked around the interwebz and a) a LOT of people are having issues with this particular game - even on a high end i7, and b) There are those with a E8400 with a much higher FPS than I'm getting.

any way to get the rest of the DLC working with the 3DM crack? It only came with the Just Cause 2 pack, and it'd be nice to have the rest (the standard stuff for sale is dorky as hell, I'm wearing a straw hat and underwear now Laughing).

I've a E6750 oc'ed to 3Ghz and a GTX560 and I had around 40fps (average) in the benchmark. Not even on lowest settings on 1680*1050 resolution.
