There' simply just some games I like playing on a gamepad over keyboard and mouse. If it's an FPS, some RPG or something I can't do a gamepad at all. However I got friends who play competitively online on PC using a gamepad and I made fun of them for YEARS for it. Then I actually played them online once night and I could not for the life of me fucking kill them. I guess they've used it for so long they got their sensitivies down right and now how to manipulative the crosshair and joystick together but god damn. I was playing old school ghost recon with a friend once. Shot me in the head with a 9mm from a ridiculous distance.
People can get really insanely good with gamepad but it is never up to the precision and speed of mouse.
I really like playing games with 360 controller. FPS games even.
I've finished couple of the same games on 360 and on PC and I couldn't care less about controls. 360 gamepad is just comfortable for me. I for life cannot play with dualshock as well as with 360controller
Sure. controls are slower and less precise but I like the slowly panning camera with analog sticks. The speed DOESN'T matter at all for me. I am not playing competively, so why I would need the speed and precision of mouse? Besides, when it comes to multiplayer play, everyone uses the same controllers on 360 or ps3 so this is also not an issue!
The comfortable hold of analog slow controller def works for atmospheric games. And analog movement is also a big plus. There is no run and walk speeds like on pc. There is a full analog progression from walk to run. I really like slowly moving analog sticks and slowly moving the camera in horror games etc Some developer went even further adding analog aspect to things like shooting... in first Darkness game, triggers on handguns are analog controlled! The more You pull the finger on trigger on controller, it moves 1:1 in game. That is fucking cool. Controller felt like I was holding a gun
Call me a freak but I like this
Finished Timeshift and Half-Life2 also on 360 just for comparison and also had a great time. Same for Chronicles of riddick and couple of other games. Just play them slower and don't expect twitchy gameplay. It's like bragging that smart is small. Controller = slow, mouse = fast.
It will suck terrible if You are hoping for same gameplay as on pc. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE with a controller. It is not made to mimic mouse and keyboard. Controller is just not made for same fast style of playing. Those who play game with a controller and brag about lack of precision and speed are either just bad with it or are expecting something they shouldn't expect from controller. That is what pc controls are for.
I think that using controllr requires more skill for experienced PC player, because of how different it is from KB and mouse controlls. One thing for sure, controller is no doubt better for most platformers and racing games and defienietly unusable for RTS etc games no matter the skill.
All the rest -fps, tps, action games etc is just a matter of skill and "Do You like playing with controller or not"
To add - I am mostly turning auto aiming off on 360 if there is a possibility and have no problem playing games.
btw. Isn't it weird? Controller was purely made for playing games, while keyboard and mouse was intended for work and pc usage... look how it ended up

Later, after the wedding....But goddamn, the gray area in this game is amazing...The bad guys are sometimes better than the good guys and the good guys are such arseholes most of the time....
Spoiler:
Well I just played the mission As you said in your spoiler that shopping mission was great if only because of the conversation with Peggy (though I actually liked the shaolin monk temple part). It does make you feel really sad and full or rage indeed when she dies along with Winston
Hearing the people here finished it in 20h is a bit of a letdown though, expected at least 40h from this game
It all depends on who's playing I'm already at 20 hours and I'm not even sure that I'm beyond the first half of the game. Remember we got our team of game rushers here at the hump.
Well, you rushed to completion then. You're a rare bird
EDIT: Btw, I couldn't care less about completion or collecting in games. I play as long as I'm enjoying it. Most of the times trying to acquire every single item becomes boring to me. And that's why I try to not advance too soon in the main quest.

It does. You're obviously playing at a fast pace when you completed 100% in that little time I'm playing at a pace I consider lets me enjoy the game, and I might not even be halfway into it, with already 20 hours and counting.
Finished mine at around 90% completion after 25hrs, the only things I didn't complete were the "Knox hijack" and "Car hijack" sidequests. That's not rushing and there's no way this is a 40hr game unless you're a cripple and have to play via blowing through a tube
yea, i finished the main story, all sidequests, collected most stuff and finished most jobs (93%) at around 22-23 hrs, so the 25 hours are definitely right for total completion, without rushing.
i dont get how people can end up with over 40 hrs, unless of course they beat up random pedestrians on the road for 10-15 hrs.
the main story is ca. 10 hours itself, not more, but its a great game and totally worth a purchase because of the combat, its always fun to go back to it and have a few rounds.
Somewhere in the "STATS" page, iirc, I can't check exactly because I've already uninstalled the game
@The_Zeel
Damn straight the game is worth getting! I'd have preferred a bit more cohesion to the missions, but overall the game itself is fantastic - I really did enjoy every second of it and would recommend to anyone. 25-30hrs feels just right to me .. though my Steam counter pegs it at 43hrs, that's made up of retries and leaderboard attempts, etc, as well as going out shopping with the missus and forgetting to close the game -- that was another 3-4hrs or so >_<
Not everything shows up in the statistics, 16 safe house upgrades are hidden in the world, and a dozen or so random encounters (people in trunks, dragging away drunks, chasing robbers)
Aye, I found half of those safehouse upgrades and maybe half a dozen of those random street encounters which only show up on the minimap if you're in that particular area. I "rescued" one chick from the boot of a car, only to have her rage at me for interrupting her sexual exploits with her husband
I just checked and inside the game I've played 16 hrs. Are you guys using the Steam counter or the one in the stats section in-game? Main story completion is 47% which sounds about right. Though I confess I've done a lot more side stuff and have taken it easy with the main story. I also stop to fight everytime I see red dots on the mini map even though I already took the money from those suitcases
Main story completion is different to TOTAL completion .. and no, like I said, I'm using in-game time as the Steam timer counts every second the game is launched, whether you're playing or not.
the random encounters are fun, but after a while very foreseeable.
oh look, a chick with a broken down car asking me to repair it.
hmm, either they created a repair minigame/mechanic just for this, or its another one of these where her bf/pimp smacks me over the head and runs away with my money...
it is of course the bf/pimp slapping me with a tire iron...
Yeah there's a 4-hour diff in my case between both counters. And yes, I understand about the main story completion not being same as total, but I insist it feels right (I reckoned I was about half-game just after I finished the wedding mission during my last session).
Anyways, I think i've already said here some time ago that I take more time to finish games than your average gamer, irrespective of difficulty. So I'm thinking I might be finishing this in around 30 hours (using in-game stats)
Got a 100% completion, but i took my sweet time. I love to just drive around and listen to the various radio stations....
And characters, really, i loved more some of the Triads guys. Pendrew/Raymond, real douchebags, not very far of Big Smile Lee. Teng, one cop trying hard to stay on the right side of the law and seeing everyone else as a possible enemy or dirty cop. Wei, trying hard to keep its sanity, torn between duty, revenge, friendship and loyalty....
So, yeah, if you want good story telling, great voice acting and one hell of a mood, you might like this game. If you want gameplay, try something else.
Couple of more things I like better than GTA4, the way he is more mobile and can jump that also makes for some cool chase sequences, all the upgrades you can get and the voice of the main dude, much better then that Serbian Belic (any eastern-European country the Americans will portray as Russian-sounding anyway).
