the sopranos ending was very good and fitting, i dont understand what people expected, some clichéd gangster shootout/assassination?
luckily they didnt go for that and even provoked the people who expected it by shooting the scene the way they did.

I think he got bored with it. His idea of an empire included Jesse, and with him gone, 3 months alone in the house, and finally the sight of all that money, he probably concluded it wasn't worth it anymore.
But, I agree about the Hank thing. Why would have Walt left the book there? He's not the forgetful type.
