It's "retarded" (your word, not mine) when you do it, but you really don't have to. He was well out the tower guy's line of sight and could have moved on stealthy without any bloodshed. Or he could have used a stun darth; witch isn't very stealthy either as the more evidence of your presence being there you leave behind, the less stealthy that infiltration is.
In this case, once he shot the guy, the light beam - because it was unmanned - went up, and I expect that would draw some sort of attention, even from the most brain dead AI.
Hence it's derpy to draw unnecessary attention thus take unnecessary risks when you clearly don't have to.
But you're right, it's just a tech/engine presentation demo...
the character you play is Naked Snake the same one you played in MGS3 that was the prequel to Metal Gear 1 MSX game , in it your character lost a eye and wore a eye patch he killed his female mentor BOSS and this made him BIG BOSS ... after this he made MGS4 that WAS THE ENDING FOR the WHOLE MGS SERIES !!!! ... after this he only releases games that explore what was OuTHER HEAVEN and how BIG BOSS became a terrorist ... first one was MGS :Portable ops [ STILL A PREQUEL TO Metal Gear 1 from MSX] that takes place after the events of MGS 3 and how BIG BOSS created his freelance army , after this he made PEACE WALKER a story HOW OUTER HEAVEN was created ... now we only miss two things how BIG BOSS became the leader of Outer Heaven and a remake of two Metal Gear games on MSX
if this is a prequel to MG5 and it was said MGS5 will be the definite end that completes the cycle [a remake if both MSX games] that would lead to MGS1
after this he can only make two things remake of MGS1 with better graphics or new games with OLD SNAKE or RAIDEN
the way i feel, both characters are big boss, the first part is set somewhere between mg2 and mgs (because solid snake burned big boss to crisp in mg2 with a lighter ), the 2nd part ie. gameplay portion is set between peace walker and mg1

no wonder kojima prefers to create prequels, how do you continue a decent story after the insanity of mgs4...and i do hope he continues on with the prequels and maybe gives us a remake of mg1 and 2 from msx.
@Theescapist : MGS 1 & 2 are on PC already. Not the 3rd one though nor the 4 (that is still exclusive to the PS3). I suggest you play the 3rd one with a PS2 emulator if you have one, then you'll have the HD Collection of yours
I think PSP emulators can run Peace Walker and Portable Ops fine no ? They matured, but I think sabin knows better emulators-wise than I do.
The best of the serie IMO, specially since it's the most realistic ones and less scifi than the others which are hard to understand (specially MGS4, as stated before, is a mess story-wise).
Not to say anything but this is this gen ... I so want ps3 everytime I see uncharted anywhere

Dl/ Tomb Raider Underworld and Annviersary (the best imo) on 360 But yeah Uncharted serie is different, it's more Indy than TR. And yeah it doesnt look as good full screen, but Uncharted 1 is still one of the nicest game ever to be out.
Legend was good.
Anniversary was fucking terrible, ugly and annoying
Underworld was quite good but animations were terrible

well, uncharted 2 is by far the best adventure/shooter this generation.
everyone should play it, its just beautiful in every way.
