I can't seem to get some solid answers from the internets on what the hell i should be doing.

I have a 2 year old 925 OC (sorta) at 3.2 and recently i bought a 7850.

Well im thinking today its time to upgrade my CPU to,since im sure that POS phenom is bottlenecking my system.

Ive got a in january a brand new Asus Am3 + , so now im asking whats the deal with the FX6100 ?

I see opinions all over the place, some people say in BF 3 multy where cpu is more stressed its very good, other say its weaker than a 955 BE.

What do you guys say ?

The reason i zeroed in on the 6100 is that its dirt cheap at a local store, like 120 bucks or something.

So, should i wait for the pilefailer or save up for a Ivy Bridge (god ive spent enough money allready on that 7850 Sad) OR get myself a FX 6100 ?

Thanks you

Wait for piledriver. Anything before that is meh and Phenom II is still the best they've released. See if you can nail a 960T. A 955 or 965 or 960T won't bottlneck the card.

Thanks, but man im still thinking this 6 core FX would be a good upgrade, since it so cheap, and maybe oc's somewhat, and hell maybe it works well with my AM3+ ?

What im aafraid of is actually getting similar or lower perf ? or god forbid be forced to use Windows 8 for proper perf with this buldozer .

Go for SB, i5-2500k.
A good and solid cpu still. (or if you feel like it, take the IB version).

But don't go wait for something if you don't even know how they are going to perform (especially after AMD's last fiasco, i would DEFO not wait).
But with the SB you KNOW that it will perform solid for the things you want. Wink

So did they had for Bulldozer and how it was going to crush intel their SB.

But yeah, if you like to hold on to promises that have been broken before by the same company, then go ahead... Rolling Eyes

Typical Intel hoora on the humps. He asked for AMD, he's getting AMD answers. Then you come in INTEL INTEL INTEL just like everyone on here does. Can't answer his question then you aren't invited to answer him.

No i'm just giving him my personal feedback.

And what makes you think that i'm a typical intel fanboy?
All my life i had AMD cpu's, this 2600k is my FIRST intel EVER.

So ~6 AMD cpu's that i had vs 1 Intel.
So when i say that i don't trust the power AMD has anymore, i KNOW what i'm talking about.

But prejudging is easy done eh Rolling Eyes

I upgraded from a AMD Phenom x4 9550BE to a AMD Phenom II x4 955BE for the same price as i upgraded last year from the Phenom II 955BE to the i7-2600k.
The prev upgrade was NOT worth the money at all, i barely noticed any difference at all, can't say that about my last upgrade.

But w/e, if you think that i'm an intel fanboy even tho i have had AMD all my life (even with the vidcards) then go ahead, ill laugh you straight in the face. Laughing Laughing Laughing

AMD has never really priced their stuff too high. I would assume none of them go over the 200 dollar mark. I paid like 120 for my 965 when it was new which was probably the best value I've ever gotten out of a CPU, this thing still runs everything possible and I can OC it to almost 4ghz to get more juice out of it if needed.

lol ouch. Ya that is one of the top sides to living in the US. We get PC hardware cheaper than almost anywhere else. I think it was sIn that was going to have my buy all this computer here and ship it over to him and even with shipping costs it would have still been cheaper.

Is piledriver going to be AM3+ compatible? Very Happy

Hmmm, are they still going with that modules BS instead of actual cores? Sad

NO U! T_T

Also, it seems that the thread SpykeZ posted is a bit dubious. Some say it's not piledriver but a "tweaked" bulldozer while others say the opposite. So if it's not the real deal then perhaps PD might be even better than previously thought. Very Happy

Well if AMD can pull it off with Bulldozer as they did with the Phenom when they made the Phenom II then the new should be fine indeed.
But i still hesitate to say that this is going to be the case, as AMD clearly stated that they didn't really bother with the PC market anymore and they were going to focus on mobile cpu's instead. http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Not-Competing-With-Intel-Anymore-Goes-Mobile-237103.shtml

Well, I for one won't be switching to Intel anytime soon since I recently just bought a new mobo for the am3+ so I'm just hoping I can switch out my 970 for something better. ^_^

I have serious doubts about piledriver. So many of the best people @ AMD left when they cut half the size of the performance CPU division to put all efforts into APU's/Fusion.

Fanboy or not, its clear these days that AMD processors aint option for anything, unless you overclock them to 10Ghz and play heavy threaded benchmarks. If you have Phenom II keep it, since you are not gonna get any more performance from AMD.
