A friend of me wants to use a custom cooler as his is now completely fucked (95 degrees on the damn thing during BF3 with 100% fan)

Now he doesn't know if it's going to fit.
He has the Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME Plus II in mind and his case is a CM 690.

Anyone know if this would fit?

Or maybe alternative for a better cooler that does fit if this one doesnt?

Zalman VF3000F is good cooler and cheap, also keeps 480 very cool. Takes 2 slots. It also has much better VRM cooling that AC extreme, since it has fullcover heatsink. Also very quiet, had one on my 480.

We are talking about this one: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/376/accelero-xtreme-plus-ii.html

This one has a fullcover heatsink, if i understood the word correctly.

It has shitty little heatsinks for ram and VRM. Accelero is insane for cooling the GPU, but rest is shit, VRM runs very hot on some cards.

Hey you got lucky lol unless you got some sort of revision. Zalman was in serious heat because of that cooler. Come to find out there was a measurement done wrong on it somewhere and was causing video cards to short out. I think something like 100 cards got fried because of it?

Why bother with it? Sell it, get something new instead. Waste of money otherwise.

A friend of mine had some luck with the VF3000F, but I think it would be wiser to sell it on ebay or something, and buy a 570.

Yeah, because that's what i asked for Rolling Eyes
And secondly, upgrade from 480 -> even 680 is NOT worth the amount of money. We are waiting with the 4 of us to buy 780's when they get released.

Which will not be worth it either, since it's not a gaming-focused card like the 680 is.

Well it might not be gaming focused, but it will give me a bigger increase then the 25-30% i would get from a 680 now.
