Deus Ex was fully voice acted and that had tons of dialogue. Granted not as much as PS:T, but then... War and Peace didn't have as much dialogue as PS:T Laughing

Aye... that's a good point, it depends on how you play. You could have a one line comment, or an entire back and forth discussion, with certain characters.

For me, every game that respects itself, have to be fully voised.
I remember "the Witcher" to become a very improved experience after it's enhanced and properly voiced - the English version of course. If games like this, today wasn't properly voiced they will be shitty games like this atrocity "The Inquisition" i remember.... Evil or Very Mad

Voices in games is probably the last thing i care about, i actually prefer to read because it's both faster and more convenient, if i can do both i've finished reading before the first sentence has been spoken and i can continue _playing_ instead of listening. It adds nothing to very little to the game imo.

I hate when Bethesda announces they have some hollywood actor doing voices, because i can't stop thinking how much of the budget it must have been, and how it could have been spent on gameplay elements instead Sad

In BG2 there is so much conversation that to voice them all will take months upon months and alot of money to pay for voice actors.

Stop with the bullshit arguments, all important and all party member dialogue should be voiced, but it's not and will not be. We're not talking about every line of text.

My fucking god, grasping at straws to defend this low budget enhancement Laughing

Not every 3d model from scratch, just the human ones, not every line of text voiced, just the important characters, stop pretending you're retards please Laughing

I gotta admit i skip alot of dialog because its too slow compared to reading, but i still like having it in, even when i barely listen to it, it helps define the character.

And there is some dialog just to epic to skip or VO so good i prefer to hear it, like alot of the VO in planescape.

There's a reason fully voice-acted games usually have crappy writing.

Besides, companies like Bethesda hire Hollywood actors left and right, and the voice-acting is still garbage at best.

Broken Sword 1 Director's Cut received minimal amount of remastering (eg upscaled backgrounds) and new content, and it was designed primarily for the Wii / iOS, but people were ok with it.

The easiest way to improve the game is the FULL voice coverage.
Did they done that?

I doubt it, voices are expensive.

In fact, so much that many modern RPGs dialog systems suffer from "too little dialog choices", due to that.

And no voices is much better then poor voiceovers.

I partially only agree with you. Even modest voice over is better than silence.
And why voice are so expensive? So many Actors are semi unemployed. We aren't in need for Julia Robert's voice to be happy...

Let me rephrase it. Good voiceovers are expensive. Bad voiceovers are cheap, and usually worse thing then having no voiceover.

Also, if game is supposed to have multi-language release, voiceovers become even more expensive.

Anyway, when you have things like "voice budget", developers need to cut corners here and there. Like add more lines to one character, reduce lines to other to fit to the budget and so.

Well that is the reason why modern AAA+ titles must have voice overs. Which usually means less content in RPG to cater to voice budget.

People just expect, when paying 50-60$, to have voice overs. Not having it means bad review and less sales.

Of course, it voice acting is bad, in such game, it can backfire a lot.

Just to add:
Anyone remember old tricks that Bioware did with their first fully voice games: KotoR and Jade Empire?

They made some NPC characters speak "gibberish" in "alien" language.

Well KoTOR is fully understandable, since not every race speaks Galactic Basic, but Jade Empire? I don't remember them not speaking proper languages... lol.. my memory is terrible!

Ok. I got it. Idea
But in this case, they re-release an already top game, so they have to give something new to worth the effort and give us a motivation to pay 20 for it.
For me, extensive voice cover is a good reason in a reasonable priced effort, to open my wallet, as there isn't any other worth mentioned improvement in what I can have for free.

(actually first character that used that "language", and only one that mixed both)
