I've been wondering if I should grab one of these...
The prices are so otherworldly good that it's hard to resist. Still, I'm worried a bit about serious backlight issues (not sure if I'd even notice it in a normal situation though) and then there's customs that will probably slap on another 50-100€ or something.
And yeah if there's an actual problem it would be a huge pain to return.
It seems like there's a lot of luck involved..

Backlight issues? There are none, at least not on the Crossovers. LED-light tho, but that's on all the IP-LED-monitors.
Customs is the only thing you would run into, no luck involved really. You'll end up paying around €90.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

k, thanks, I just saw a picture earlier somewhere of one of these monitors (not sure what brand/model) and it had some really bad backlight bleeding all over the place. it didn't look pretty.
Maybe I missed it but did you yourself get a pixel perfect one?
I'm thinking if you don't get the pixel perfect one you're gonna get one with dead pixels for sure, right? They gotta get rid of those somehow..

there's zero bleeding on my crossover
there's one thing i'm annoyed about it..
i have one of those master-slave power cords that turn slave sockets (monitors and other stuff) off when the master device (computer) turns off
it loses settings if it loses power, so i have to always have it powered or reset the brightness every time
luckily it goes to standby mode without signal
beyond that i have no problems

I have a pixel perfect one. You won't get one with anything more than 5 dead pixels at worst, and in those cases most (3) will be at the edges of the screen.
The average among consumers is one dead pixel. The pixel density on the screen is so high though that in most cases you won't notice it, and in other cases the dead pixels can be fixed.

thanks man. I'll probably grab a perfect pixel crossover then seeing how you had good experience with yours. I think it might be a good time for a full system upgrade too so Ican actually play games at thatnative resolution....

I'll be ordering a crossover in a month or so. I've been watching these over on OCN since early this year waiting to see what people thought of them.

i've had my crossover now since 11 Aug 2012 by my forum post
haven't had any trouble with it now that i've had it for four months
at one point i thought it was failing, but it turned out my dvi switch was unstable with such a high resolution, so i had to disconnect that
i've gotten used to the glossiness and totally forget about the single black pixel
i have my old 21" on my server next to me and i wonder how i ever played games with that

You should check out the Overlord Tempest monitors. They are much better build than Crossover/Catleap.

well I'll eat my words. Because my Samsung 2770fh 27" TN monitor (POS, terrible colors and gamma, have never been able to adjust properly) started shutting off randomly I ordered one of these from bigclothcraft. I despise glossy screen on my laptop but in my room where my desktop is it shouldn't matter since theres no light above or behind the monitor. Plus i recently got a 3gb HD7950 that i overclocked and it rapes every game i've thrown at it... overkill for 1080p.
edit: forgot to mention its a Crossover 27Q.

Got it in yesterday, works great. Didnt find a single dead pixel and the color seems uniform and dead on. Calibrated with my spyder4 as well, and it hardly changed a thing, it had a tiny bit of green tint to it. edit: forgot to mention, bought from bigclothcraft.. no complaints, great comms and fast shipping, cost me $370 all in all.
I even dropped the thing 3 feet onto the wood floor as i was unpacking it but no dings or scratches or nothin, thank dog.
Black/white levels are amazing, contrast is great, viewing angles are of course vast improvement over my old 27" 1080p TN Samsung. Only real complaint is the annoyingly bright blue LED showing the monitor is on. Kind of strains the eye too.
1440p i could honestly do without, dont notice much difference in gaming, so mostly its just giving me 40-50 fps instead of constant 60 (overclocked HD7950). I do note that you dont really need MSAA at 1440p though. And there are some issues with programs like Steam, where the windows/font etc are way too small with no easy way to increase sizes of. It does benefit text though (after i changed font size in windows )
I was worried about the glossy screen, but its not an issue at all in my room, and it benefits color output. Plus its not all that glossy anyways. Mainstream consumer laptops are much worse.
