So everyone remembers Wing Commander, Freelancer etc.. Sadly the guy quit making games after 10 years, but now it seems that he is back, and is making new game! Its space game so far what i have heard. Discuss! Smile

"I know who you are! You’re Chris Roberts, creator of the Wing Commander series and director of FMV sequences, one of which was feature length. After spending a few years in the non-interactive motion picture industry, Roberts is returning to the world of games, and indeed the world of world-building. His project will be revealed on the tenth of October at 10am (EST).

Targeted at “truly hardcore space simulation fans”, the project has been in development for a year already but there are a projected 24 months of development left. You can sign up to the website to follow progress and receive insider information, such as an occasional screenshot perhaps. Sign up for insider details throughout the process and ponder aloud whether the words ‘Kickstarter’ or ‘crowdfunding’ will be anywhere on the RSI site on October 10th."

Were this to happen, it'd be the single event needed to convince me that there was indeed some prevailing sense of good and justice in this world. Very Happy

Well the first wasn't, but who's to say the sequel couldn't be. For all the casualizations and streamlining and declining many classic series have devolved into, why couldn't there be one series that became better instead. Razz

Interesting... So basically,

1. Create a mock up of gameplay videos from several good looking space games
2. Put some "artwork"
3. Smile in front of the camera and tok vit a aaakksaaant
4. ...
5. Profit?

Laughing

Too many good news lately, that would make me think that we're all victims of some kind of Truman Show made by EA and Activision Laughing

More like...

1. Am a big fan of Chris Roberts space combat games from Wing Commander through Starlancer to Freelancer.
2. Trust that he could make something as great as his last game and prepared to pay for it upfront.

Nothing to do with dodgy sales pitches.

The trailer doesn't show a lot. Sure the graphics are fancy, but theres no feature list or anything like that.
