i dont understand why anyone would get the basic set for only 50 bucks less and 1/4 of the hdd space, without nintendoland
if the basic edition was 250 bucks, then it would atleast make sense.

what a fucking shitty trick having only black as the most expensive. I guess many if not most prefer the black one and it's more cash for Nintendo. White is wayy to booring.

The black version is the premium model at 32 GB storage space instead of 8 GB so thus the price difference whereas the rest isn't that different aside from the stands and that included software title.
(No idea what it's using, flash memory or SSD or normal HDD, exterior drive can can apparently be added too but there's probably some limitation there to so you just don't hook up a 2.5 TB drive to the basic model, hah.)

i'm still not sold on controller with display. no doubt it will be extremely useful for 2 players and coop stuff, but for normal hardcore gaming... useless imo.

I'm less concerned about the hardware then the software. I believe that to this day the Wii controller has not been utilized to its full potential. I'm talking about the pointing device part, not the wiggle stick.

Like i said before, if i could pay 300 or 350$ for the console it would be a day 1 buy for sure. It's 600$ for the premium edition here in Norway.

all these screens are 720p or less. i guess no 1080p from day 1 |
not only that, i dont see any AA either |
I would think that it's similar to the progression from the first titles for the X360 and PS3 compared to current ones, it's a start and will improve from there as time goes on.
(Oblivion to Skyrim or well I don't know, Gears of War 1 to Gears of War 3 maybe?)
No idea what settings these were captured from either, standard might be 720P but it doesn't have to mean 1080 isn't supported though I would imagine it would have been better to show that if it was available natively without scaling.
(Any decent 40+ TV can do 1080p can't it? HDMI I guess and it's included with the console this time instead of with the original Wii and it's not-quite-that-good composite and non-RGB scart bundle instead of component.)
EDIT: Some other info, this is about the WiiU and Wii compatibility for non-retail (Or disc or what to call it.) games and content.

After hearing the Wii U details and eyeing some trade-ins, you might be tempted to head down to your local games retailer and give them your Wii. We'd advise you to wait, at least if you want to keep all of your old data and purchased Virtual Console games.
A Nintendo representative confirmed to Gimmie Gimmie Games that a content transfer from the Wii to Wii U will require you to have both systems connected to the Internet at once. The rep compared the process to transferring between the DS/3DS family of systems.
That transfer will include all of your Miis, WiiWare, and Virtual Console games. You probably don't want to have to repurchase those games, so best to keep your old neglected Wii around for a while longer.
|
(I guess it's in contrast to simply having to use a SD card or backing it up on HDD - unsure if that can even be done without softmod though, guess it's just the SD card by default and with the 4.1 or what it was update, I don't remember.)

Why the hell did Nintendo NOT include that Xbox like controller with the Deluxe version? Spend $350 for Deluxe with no standard controller forcing you to spend an additional $39.99+ for that Xbox like controller. That blows.
And who the hell wants Nintendoland? Why not include New Super Mario U? I freaking hate the way Nintendo does things, seriously. Its so annoying, they do the complete opposite of what people want.
Nice to see Black Ops 2 taking advantage of the Tablet allowing for splitscreen mode to be played on the TV and on the Tablet, fucking great on their part.
This is something that could have been done with Borderlands 2 it could have been amazing on Wii U, but WII U is not even getting Boderlands 2. WTF!!! And no Resident Evil 6 either. I just don't know man, I am not sold on Wii U and for those reasons. Mind you, I bought a Wii first day it came out, and the only thing it served me for, was a fucking dust magnet.
Is anyone planning to get it? Please tell me why? If the system was getting Borderlands 2 and Resident Evil 6, I might have considered getting it, especially since Black Ops 2 might actually be better on Wii U than on PS3 or Xbox because of the Tablet Controller for Splitscreen stuff, I like that.

Yes I'm getting it. Why? Amazing Nintendo exclusives. I don't care about playing RE6 or Borderlands2 on the WiiU, I have a killer PC for that, as well as PS3/360.

Not a day one purchase for me!
I think mid to late next year for me try to grab this machine.by then release day games will be cheap & should be a few established games on the market for the wiiu by then.
also more would be known about the next gen PS & Xbox
at the moment or anytime this year if I had to buy hardware it would be to upgrade my gfx card
