Bravo, once again you didn't read a single damn word I typed. Unlike you, I actually know people who are affected by this, some of them being from right here on the hump. madness also just posted about it, Sniffty will be affected by it (and they've been fucked like this before) - on top of that, two of my real life friends live in Russia, and even though they do speak Russian obviously, they very much prefer English. |
You're not the only one in the thread bitching about this. But if you haven't bought the cheap russian version - then my post wasn't directed at you.
Quote: | Once again, I did not and will not buy this at Russian prices, nor have I ever had any intention to do so. Right now, my intention isn't on buying at all until I'm sure I don't pay for a shit game again, not falling for it again. When I do buy it, I'll buy it at full price; did that with Sleeping Dogs as well, even though I could've paid 20% of what I paid by going to cddiski. |
Fair enough, then I apologize for misreading your post.
Quote: | Then please, explain how come the UK has lower prices even though the average salary is no more or less than most of western Europe (and it was like this before the "crisis" just the same)? Or why Norway, still one of the "richest" countries in the world, has been a second tier country for so long when it comes to pricing (meaning they got UK prices, ~35 EUR)? Or why the US is considered a second tier country just the same, even though their per capita PPP is higher than most of Western Europe (including NL)? Or how the fuck a country like Macedonia is considered a first tier country, even though PPP is far below what you'd consider "nominal"? |
I didn't say it was exclusively average income - but also what people are willing to accept. It's a combination of the two.
But if you're going to claim that average income has no effect on prices, then you're living in a different world than I am.
If people can't pay the prices - they won't be buying. That's about as basic as it gets.
Quote: | Less being full of shit; prices have got nothing to do with income, only with what they can get away with. I have no problems with that, but it also means I won't be buying games until I'm sure they're worth the ridiculous amount of money they charge. Even with my income (and no, I'm not telling you how much I *actually* make), spending 50-60 EUR for a buggy, bland, dumbed down 4 hour "experience" is not worth it. But like I said, if I do like the game, I'll pay that price. |
As I said above, it's not just income - but even you have got to admit that income is going to have a PROFOUND effect on pricing. But, again, it's a combination of income and what people are willing to pay. Obviously, people aren't willing to pay more than they can afford.
Quote: | If you want to come after me that's your choice, but you got it wrong buddy. |
I'm not coming after you. I'm responding to the obvious whining in this thread - by people who're cheap. I didn't target you - you targeted me because you thought I was talking about you.
Again, I'm sorry I didn't catch that you didn't buy the russian version. I assumed it, since you seemed so affected by my post.
I agree that it's stupid to force people to play in their own language. I've always hated that - and it has nothing to do with my problem with the whiners.

Sadly, I still think this is about cheap whiners who can't get past that they took a risk and it didn't work out.
But we can certainly agree that a game should be exactly what it says where you're buying it. |
i'm posting as an observer of this pathetic situation. i never intended on buying this game, either from steam or cheap Russian cdkey. i'm not talking about people who bought cheap keys and are now angry it's only russian, i'm talking about 50 euros RUSSIAN ONLY VERSION from steam. it's complete bullshit. |
We can agree about that.
Steam prices are generally ridiculous, which is why I almost never buy directly from them.
Also, the language thing is beyond stupid - but so is whining about trying to get a cheap key and not having it work out.

Doesn't Green Man Gaming have some 20% off thing which works with this?
I read about it some days ago though and it might no longer apply but it would be one source albeit if it's the cheapest even with that discount I can't say, there's probably other stores with similar pricing though again I don't know any details and those might be from other regions and thus locked in some way thus limiting available language choices or requiring VPN to work.

Am I missing something or is there a Borderlands 2 region lock on GMG? Because I don't see them selling it. Why the fuck don't they want my money?

I love listening to people complain about us "whiners" buying cheap keys, yet they themselves get to buy their games with 20/25% vouchers and by paying in dollars. Try being forced to buy games at €50 and €60 each ($65/$78, by the way) then come back and call us "whiners"
BL2 on UK Store = £29.99 (€37.99) ($48.66)
BL2 on NO Store = €49.99 (£40) ($65.54)
Yes, I bought a cheap key BEFORE 1C changed the restrictions and locked it to RU only. I only had that little bit of cash left due to cancelling a preorder on another game. Yes, this is my fault for buying an RU key and taking the risk, but I didn't change the restrictions - they did - so excuse me all to hell for being a little bit annoyed at wasting what little money I had left and with no way of getting any more. That's still no reason for some of your to act like colossal twats.

There was 4 expansions for the first game too, this is nothing new to BL2, the difference being is that is has been announced up front and the season pass actually SAVES you money. I fail to see what the problem is.

Damn it captain something's gone wrong
Sorry but the page you are looking for has not been found. Try checking the URL for errors, then hitting the refresh button on your browser.
Also no mentioning of Borderlands 2 on the main site, searching leads to the first game only.

yeah, thats exactly what is wrong with it. People thinking they save money, by buying into this crap. Reality check, you paying almost twice as much for 1 game. You guys sure aren't sure of yourselfs lol, either you bashing dlc model to death or you defending it.
Make up your minds haha.
And again, there is no such thing as "saving money" when it comes to sales.

1C/SoftClub made a news post, stating it was 2K doing. They are only responsible for the retail Russian version.

Ah well, it was only $17 and it's a lesson learned. Just miffed about it being a last minute change because I sure as hell wouldn't have bought one had I know about the locks beforehand.
Thanks WB.
