I don't find any other reason. In the prehistoric ages of gaming the games had to be shipped and it took some time. But now, in digital era...
As far as I can remember, it's due to retail launch dates. It's been a LONG time since I helped run a game store, but UK launch date for new games was usually on a Friday and I believe US launch was usually on Tuesday? Digital launches generally stick to the same as retail so as to not undercut bricks'n'mortar stores.
It seems that you're right but it's more of tradition due to the game shipping than anything else. I don't think that publishers are really waiting for physical copy like it was back in the days.
Sadly that looks like it failed before it even took off 1500 signatures and something that happened over a year ago and hasn't changed a thing People are just too hung up on tradition.. and the thought of having to change something, anything, in their business is too frightening
To be honest, I think digital sales should be exempt from region based launch dates. If you BnM stores won't fall in line, then fine, don't .. but digital which is, as you said, oceanless, shouldn't be held to the same restrictions.
"The main quest takes you to some cool places, but it’s often marred by disproportionately tough bosses. Dying in a boss fight also undoes all the damage you’ve dealt, wasting all that time and ammo. I once made the mistake of using the nearby fast-travel station to get to a shop to restock. Turns out you can’t travel back to that particular beacon, so I had to do the whole mission again, with all enemies respawned."
This is just fucked up. Without spoiling anything, it happens shortly after "train" stuff. I went through the whole location killing stuff, got to the boss, died shortly before killing him. Then I respawned nearby without ammo (and no way to purchase it there) so I figured hey, at least they put a Fast Travel point here so I can easily restock. But after wanting to come back I found out, that that particular point is one-way only! That seems like the kind of stuff you want to mention!
And the first major boss of the game gave me a lot of problems as well (though I do play as Zero which I found out may not have been the best of choices).
In general I find it much more difficult than BL1 (which is awesome) but very inconsistently so.
Well I hope it is more difficult, because BL1 was a snooze fest if you did even a small amount of side quests. I have the feeling BL2 suffers from the same problem, but I'm hoping it is not of the same magnitude.
Got my GPU back, this definitively seems better than the first game but they're otherwise quite similar, really like it so far though like all UE3 titles some editing was used to improve things albeit it's probably quite subtle.
Well it looks like nody and I got refunds for our BL2-RU copies, so that's a small mercy Of course there's sod all out there that I want to buy for $15-17, so meh... it'll just sit there until something turns up.

I've been using "Your Freedom / OpenVPN" and later VPNSecureMe for a few years now, Valve is warning about such use but nothing has ever happened though it's gotten a bit more attention lately as the number of people unlocking early probably grows.
Of course I doubt they actually care so long as you are not bypassing the store pricing itself.
(Though this wasn't bought from Steam directly but rather Gamersgate UK, still not the best price or such but it's OK.)

yep, same feeling here. mentioned it a page or so back. i will be following their official forum and maybe the console commands to force the game to think there are 4 players will work in this one, cause they didn't in the first one

and more and more noobs make threads on steam about this
im sure if you do this quietly nothing can happen, but seeing more and more ppl learn about this, valve might take action
There wasn't any console commands, but luckily there WAS a mod that could simulate additional players. There was a few mods if I'm not mistaken, here's one of them and it claims to work on BL2 as well - which isn't all that surprising given it's the same engine and likely uses a lot of the same code.
so if i'm correct if you want to play sp with vpn you don't need to stay connected with vpn as you can set your steam to offline ?
But what if you want to play another game online on steam or play online coop (borderlands 2) do you need to stay connected to this vpn all the time ? also when your ingame?
As soon as you disconnect the VPN, the game will return to "Preloaded" status, so the best thing to do is VPN, load Steam, see game is "Available" and then Go Offline in Steam so that you don't need to stay connected to VPN. If you want to play online in BL2, then yes; you need the VPN to stay connected.
