Looks good this year. Anyone who remembers it's glory days on the PS2, mainly for how unpredictable it could be, yeah. It's like that.

What do you mean?
After the swith to the next generation (after PES 6 which was SUPERB, and in some ways still the best football game ever) KONAMI struggled A LOT for 3 years before finally coming up with something that was acceptable. Then last year, PES was back with a pretty good game, and this year it's A LOT better. Perhaps FIFA is still the best game, I don't know, but I think calling this game "bad" is extremely unfair.

Ah, I misunderstood - I thought you said they switched to a next-generation engine and it became good again.
I do not like it. And before Fifa finally switched to the current generation engine, I disliked that too, but the new Fifas are just a lot more fun to me. Set some manual passing and shooting and speed to slow, and they become really nice. Sure, AI could use some work, but that is always true.

Hell no to manual shooting, its very dull and repetitive, you always get the same kind of goals unless you a lucky shot goes in. Also, all those wasted 1on1 opportunities annoy the shit out of me.

I've only tried the demo but PES 2013 is far from being the same disappointing game as the 2008-2011 versions. There's a better pace, more realistic gameplay and the AI is generally quite advanced. They did put a lot of work in the last two games, and it's noticeable.
The biggest problem for them is that the engine is so bad that even the biggest efforts are nullified by the inconsistent animations system and presentation, which are two of the most important aspects in a sports game (the NBA 2K series is top-notch when it comes to these).
You can make the most realistic gameplay ever, but if your players run like they have a stick in the ass and behave like technorobots you're going to be disappointed, it's inevitable.

I have to say 2013 surprised me a lot, last PES I enjoyed was PES6, my most favourite soccer game so far.
This playes really well, team mate AI seems miles ahead of FIFA's. (dont mean to flame but FIFA was just annoying that way)

A FIFA with PES' AI and stats would be indeed -almost- the ultimate football game. The two games kinda complete each other.

But that's just it, how do you have a good simulation when the animation system is so bad? It's like driving a simulator at 20fps. Yes, maybe the internal simulation engine ticks at 1000 or 2000 MHz but you are still limited by what you can see on screen. FIFA's fluidity of animations actually contributes to its simulation, I think.

I completely agree , having smooth animations/transitions does contribute a lot...it basically has a vital importance. Sadly when it comes to Konami, having spent all the resources on a completely wrong engine has been the root of their failure, since all the past and present "nextgen" PES games live with this permanent handicap, no matter how good the AI and gameplay are.
It will be interesting to see what will happen with the next-next-gen consoles, when PES will use the (promising? or fail ) Fox Engine

No, I think the "root of the problem" are the fanboys that buy the game no matter what. It's the kiddies on YouTube that blindly write "Fifa shit PES king" on any video. Well, to me this rubs off on the other spectrum: PES shit!; FIFA good.

pes feels very fluid to me, i scored some of the most amazing goals ever on it , and it wasn't some dynamic dribbling bullshit that fifa forces you to do , never been able to be fully in control in fifa unlike pes, besides the PC community produces some of the best patches ever really , the PesEdit.com Euro patch was fuckin great , maybe even better than the "game" Fifa guys released and fore free , but tbh the that whole animation part is correct , it does need a lot of work , which may never happen unless they come up with a new engine.

OK played it, beter than the demo but not by much, still evidence of dodgey keepers, animations not up to speed, crap sound , crap camera angles, visuals not very good and after coming from fifa 13 the game feels so restricted. Used to love ISS/PES back in the day but its just not made the required step up in next gen. FIFA 13 demo is miles ahead of PES not just in game play but game modes too.
Roll on next week

What's the problem with the gk's?They are excellent.Camera angles are good, if you don't like them change them with the camera tool.
Graphics are great, the grass is superb (or fifa's plastic 2D is better?), faces are top notch compared to Fifa again.
Is there a trend out there to bash KONAMI and PES every time?Ok, animations are not perfect but they're good considering the engine limitations.Or you prefer having your player doing 360's,180's and ballarina moves one after another without a fatigue and control "penalty"?
As I stated earlier PES 13 gameplay is amazing. The R2/RT button is a great addition, very responsive and manual passing is very good too.
Especially in offline gameplay PES is miles ahead. The AI both teammate and cpu is night and day compared to Fifa's generic, psychic AI.Unpredictability, midfield and build up play, complexity, tactics, team/player ID, fouls -> PES shines in all these areas.
You say you used to love ISS/PES.Which PES?Even 6 which is considered the best of the series had an arcade feeling to it and it was a goal fest.
In conclusion, Fifa it's for casual players.PES (13 only) is for patient players who love football, tactics and want freedom and creativity on field+a CPU AI that gives them challenge and plays as human as it can be.
About scene wars now.I checked both releases and suprisingly Skidrow's is a nearly perfect release.dt07.img is not broken.Reloaded rushed this time to criticise Skidrow. The crash in teams selection happens when you don't block the exe with a custom rule for both inbound and unbound in advanced settings in Windows Firewall. You need to create these rules and also block again the two Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 exe's which Windows Firewall will automatically create when you will run the game for the first time.As I stated earlier it's a nearly perfect release because the Securom hack Skidrow uses it's clearly flawed.Reloaded's right only in the line "besides using the usual cheap Securom hack".

Care to explain that "plays like shit"?Also what do you mean "blocking the ball in front"?I have yet to see a gk mistake in this game and I have the retail from Saturday morning. This is while playing with mediocre teams and not the top ones with better gk's.They also deflect the ball far in right/left corners so the attacking rebounds are significally toned down from demo.
It's typical. You really don't care to post useful impressions and you rely on statements like "fifa again", "this is shit", "that is crap" etc.

The keepers are retarded. I've conceded 3 goals in 1 match because the keeper decided to punch out slow, direct shots to the opposition while he refuse to recover from laying on his stomach. And wingers still refuse to run forward for through balls unless you tell them to. While I understand the positive of giving players control, seeing your winger stand just literally half a meter from you and just spectates the match is annoying.
The good thing is the AI defense is a lot better at intercepting through balls, and tackles are a lot more reliable and accurate now. When you have possession, the AI really does well to pressure you as hard as they can without leaving open space for through balls. Also AI don't seem to do those Messi runs again and again anymore. You can actually position your defense well and try to delay, then tackles it.
For master league they removed that stupid conversation system (I think), so thank god for that. And skipping dates are a bit faster now.
Graphically there are like no changes at all. Players turning animations are noticeably better, other then that, I don't see much difference.

Ok.3 goals from rebounds in only 1 game?Video please. What about the other matches you played?
Teammate AI makes constant runs in wings. You must be playing the other game or you've chosen an All-out Defense tactic by mistake.
