Such a game without a template. That's a shame!
- Official website: COD2
- Publisher: Activision
- Developer: Infinity Yard
- Genre: Action
- Release date:
November 4th 2005
- Official Fact Sheet:
Code: | The sequel to the award-winning Call of Duty™, Call of Duty 2 is powered by a proprietary new engine featuring striking new visuals, advanced A.I. technology, the most realistic squad combat and explosive action in new historic campaigns.
* Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action.
* Infinity Ward, creator of the blockbuster, original Call of Duty, has also expanded the scope of combat to deliver a truly realistic battlefield experience. Squads now have the freedom to take on a variety of mission objectives, on expansive battlefields that allow for multiple paths and the ability to utilize actual combat tactics like outflanking and fire and maneuver capabilities.
* Call of Duty 2’s new engine and A.I. technology set the stage for authentic squad combat and astonishing action. Concealment can be key as battlefield smoke or even deployed smoke grenades cloud visibility. Weather effects such as the dusty sandstorms of North Africa and whiteout blizzard conditions of Russia, for example, will keep soldiers glued to their bunkers. The team has also employed a state-of-the-art Battle Chatter System that brings the action to life as squad-mates bark out context-sensitive updates in real-time to players through an advanced A.I. system.

WOW, this game looks absolutely amazing. CoD is my fav WW2 shooter still...not realistic but damn fun and intense at times.
Whens this due for release? Soon I hope?
The COD website says Fall 2005...so does that mean September 21st on the dot or like oct/nov?

I'll say November. Might be a launch title for Xbox 360 and that comes out in November.

It looks great, but it's the gameplay that counts and from everything I've read it's basically Call of Duty in more impressive clothing. Which isn't neccessarily a bad thing but it's exactly groundbreaking is it.

well and CoD has the gameplay that makes me still play it since it's release. so that's the point of CoD.

I actually thought cod's gameplay was a bit too arcade rambo style, I liked Brothers in Arms gameplay better, much more of a challenge then cod.
cod's gameplay was much better in mp though, easy of use with fast action.

yeah brothers in arms really pulled the realisem off, but it didnt pull the mass soldiers situation like cod did ... brothers in arms was much better than the first cod and i hope they'll fix some things in cod2 like real physics and better AI. the grahpics look decent and you can never get enough cod gameply and with some things improved it could kick ass

Both games lack something which Operation Flashpoint managed to achieve so brilliantly and that is the DYNAMICS of war. In the case of t he two aformentioned games by yourself - they are rollercoaster rides for sure, but they are both ON RAILS and ONE DIMENSONAL.
Working your way through some sections was more like a puzzle game.
