DCB wrote: | Meh why bother with that. Just make your own DVD image from the 4 CD version. It has been years since I did it myself, but I think this has all the files you need for both K1 and K2 to get rid of the disc swap prompts - http://www.cd-2-dvd.com/files/SW_KotOR_DVD5.rar
You can use a clone of the first CD (full or mini-image) if you want to avoid dealing with cracks. |
The new DVD set's are working with windows vista/7/8 while the cd version has random crashes.
That's why i bother

you might not even need the mss32.dll. i didn't use them and had no issues with KOTOR 1 on win 7.
as for the second KOTOR, I know a lot of people who consider it better then the first game. Like most obsidian games, you either love it or hate it.

Please, keep dreaming. Do you REALLY want a new KoTOR game in this day and age? From the same team that bought us the KoTR MMO? The only way I'd get behind a KoTOR III is if ObsEnt came back onboard .. but they're busy with Eternity right now, not to mention a bunch of other games too.

I don't consider SWTOR canon (esp. since it breaks canon itself) so I could totally ignore whatever Revan-connected stuff was blurted out in a failed MMO.

KOTOR is dead. Certainly after TOR at any rate. I can't see there ever being any future single player game set in that period, not that I would want one now anyway.
It's a shame Bioware didn't set their MMO in the pre-Bane period, about 1000 years before the Original Trilogy. That had everything they needed in terms of lots of Sith running around, a galaxy-wide war going on, etc. They could have done pretty much whatever they wanted there without shitting on existing canon overly much, seeing as it's a time period not many people besides Karpyshyn have done anything with.

Bioware might disappear soon. See how many are leaving the sinking ship. Prolly, after the last ME3 DLC and DA3, Bioware will be renamed into EA - insert the city name where the studios are located (Austin, Edmonton, Montreal, San Franciso, Ireland) and probably Bioware Mythic will be disbanded (two failures is a bit much - Warhammer and SWTOR).

I find Kotor 2 much better than the first one too (and I played them in the right order, starting with the original game). It's darker, more mature, but at the same time, somehow it still manages to capture the unique SW feel. Sure, the original Kotor was more fleshed out and complete and it also had one "ooooh!" moment that for many people seems to be equivalent to a better story, but that doesn't exactly make it a better game.
