Some random notes I took while watching the live stream reveal:
Video on Youtube was shown using a GTX 670
Name of the game is Star Citizen: persistant open universe, can work to be a Citizen by joining Military and/or completing certain missions, or be a pirate universe of Freelancer and WC combined, join military to complete singleplayer storyline, Freelancer side will be the buy/sell, missions, and eventually be able to buy property, mulitplayer persistant dynamic world new content added ongoing basis,
players will be able to find and Name the new Nav Points that are added, and sell coordinates to the corporations,
single-player can be played offline solo, online other friends can join in, open-world will be online focused, nearby friends can be radioed in to help out if they are nearby, even if not actively playing with you,
ship sizes in open-world can be fighters up to a small carrier,
each ship is roughly 300,000 polygons
no loading screens

He hasn't mentioned who (afaik). All he's said is that besides the crowdfunding he also has private funding (due to the scale of the game being bigger than your usual crowdfunded game).

First question is beeing anwsered in the 1 hour presentation. It will be something like Freelancer + Eve + Wing Commander.
A Singeplayergame with an open persitent universe and a "bigger" multiplayerpart like it was in Freelancer (but with modern features).
Second question about kickstarter is beeing answered on his page:
- they wanted more possibilities for the community for paying (paypal, amazon, creditcard, ...)
- they wanted an option that your money can still go to the developers if the 2 000 000 are not reached.
And as we see now.. after 3 hours the already got almost 10% of the 2 000 000$.. i think in 30 days the goal is real - its possible!
