Removed all the strategy? Have you played the game? Come on, man. It's worthy of criticism but you're just being melodramatic. |
Yeah... i played... the game is fun... but wheres the points of time in combat... i can throw granades even walked long distances... only one type of shot... globe theres no chase to ufos... 3 missions same time... research only one at a time... and so on.......
most of it is because of controller... this doesnt have the same mouse navigation...

I've seen the cyberdiscs move about. Also the Chrysalids have hunted me down before I spotted them.

Seems so, with some work. Look here. |
That fix works for me (Windows XP SP3).
Game runs surprisingly smooth on my old 8800GT (most settings on low, 1600x900). |
That means you are probably running the legit version, right ? Because for me the FTL version won't start up.

from about the mid stage of the game, you'll encounter more and more patrols.
the first big overseer ship I've shot down, I just had time to setup an initial cover base in front of the ship before like 3 packs rushed out of the ship. 2 chrysalid and 2 packs of 4 floaters... wasn't much fun. thank god for rocket launchers.

It is a dumb downed, more action oriented XCOM. I really miss the micromanagement from the originals, like equiping the soldiers, hiring sceientists, buying/selling ammo, kneeing in fights, chosing different shot types, etc.
That being said, I do enjoy the game and it is probably as good as a game gets these days.

Just started a Classic Ironman, no tutorial.
First mission, first alien turn, a sectoid wanders out of the fog of war, goes into cover and into overwatch.
Second alien turn, another patrol wanders into sight, spots me and runs back into the fog of war.
So it seems difficulty level related as well.

Some people just want the exact same game back with so many controls that console versions would be unplayable.
Sorry folks, but this is the real world, where actually making money is as important as gameplay now. Alienating ( ) customers is not the way forward.
I have payed and played now for a few hours and I am thoroughly impressed with what I'm seeing. Sure, there are a couple of questionable areas of gameplay, but IMO nothing that detracts from the core elements of the game.
And definitely play classic mode - that seems much more like the original.
(the interceptor section sucks though - I miss the old skool version hehe)

My friends, i think i will buy it for 20$ from the Hookups Steam group.
But i have a question regarding the preorder bonus to customize your soldiers. Without it, won't you be able to customize your soldiers at all, or just not as many options?
And, would it be able, to somehow enable the customization, if i buy it?

The person that made the xp fix stated this in the thread on the steamforums:
Quote: | Actually, there is no pre-existing XP-friendly replacement that I am aware of for the functions the pirated version uses, so anyone who seriously wanted to adapt this work to the pirated version would need to roll their own replacements for those functions, unlike what I have done here for the legit version. Easier said than done. Granted, they'll probably just make a different pirated version that works with this, instead, sooner or later. It's unfortunate. In a way it's kind of a funny coincidence that the pirated version of the game uses more Vista-and-later functions than the legit game. |

Yes, but someone on this thread said it worked, reason why I asked.

Why the fuck the enemies can shoot through solid wall?
EDIT: And I hate that chance to hit aspect. It doesn't matter if I'm shooting from long distance or medium to a half hidden alien - my soldiers always got 45% to hit chance. (Classic Ironman).

I took cover over solid wall, got full shield. On the opposite side was sectoid who should not see that soldier and he killed him anyway. The wall got destroyed after I smoked them with grenade.

Only one bug tho...

Question: does the game have multiplayer? If so, does it has a LAN mode? And if yes, does it works with the FTL version?
