did anyone see one of the user reviews at metacritic? Laughing

Although not a horrific game, I think this is a step back for the "Deus Ex genre" - or whatever you want to call it. A hybrid of stealth and action - the action falls flat. You can run and gun in this game, but there's no omph to it. It's on par with the original Deus Ex in terms of pure gunplay. Or, maybe that's too generous - Deus Ex gives you a wide array of weapons over a decade ago. In Dishonored, you have three kinds of bolts to hurl with your tiny dart-slinger, and a shabby pistol. Action just isn't there, with gameplay revolving around running straight at enemies, using up your small ammunition stockpile, and then chugging mana potions while you hurl rats and wind about. There's very little to engage you, as most of the levels are extremely linear if you choose to take the action route. ||| The stealth side of things is better than I was expecting, but most of the depth of stealth is lost thanks to Blink. Granted, you can choose not to use the spell, but the stealth is balanced around it. And choosing not to use it simply makes every level a chore. In Deus Ex, sneaking involves passing through guard patrols, crawling through vents, utilizing security systems, and hacking. In Dishonored, stealth is patiently waiting about for your enemies to turn their heads toward the sea for a moment and seldom more than that. Occasionally you encounter a security system you need to bypass, but the ways of approaching those security systems involve blink, at least until you can slow down time. ||| What I'm trying to imply is that the depth of choice in Dishonored falls a little flat. It's easy to see that they tried, but the most striking failure of Dishonored is its lame level design

Well, I dig the game but I sort of get what that metacritic poster was getting at. Dishonored does seem like a game that can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. That being sad, the game isn't really trying to be a DX clone as much as it wants to be a successor to Thief --- at which it certainly succeeds.

Ok, my apologies, but which crack should I be using now? I went with SR release and aside from the time stamp issues, it seems fine. I noticed when I create a new save the stamps are there.

Should I just go with SR release and apply the proper real proper fix fake fix real proper or whatever? Would that be fine?

Sorry, got a late start on the forums due to work hehe.

Well to be completeley honest, gunplay in the original Deus Ex actually felt odd to me (except for the sniper rifle, I really enjoyed that), which in the end wasn't important as I was playing the stealth/hacking approach, the most enjoyable way to play it imo. In Deus Ex HR it was nothing exceptional either. Add that to the fact the guy on metacritic says that the game falls flat in the choice/freedom department, and we get a post that doesn't really make much sense.

I guess it's the same crack related Steam functionality as earlier.

Basically the game saves it's save games and settings to a Steam specific user folder which Fairlight and Reloaded emulate with their cracks.

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\FLT\Steam\
(Then 20100 I believe for this game.)

Reloaded tends to use C:\ProgramData\RLD if I remember correctly.

It works just by copying one to the other so just transfer the files and overwrite as required.

I can see his points though, I liked the game alot, even though they messed up the replay value. Without blink you're pretty much a crappy assassin. Skills or no skills. Sure you can wait around corners for a guard to walk by and stealth kill him that way, but that would make the game pretty boring pretty quickly.

Good game, having loads of fun. Will write final review, once I am at the end, but until then - I have to say, even though they have different genres, sort of, DXHR is still my preferred game.

This could turn out to be single player GOTY for me, but overall GOTY so far for me is still The Secret World.

after few hours of play i can't see any using Dishonored.Fix-RELOADED

with real proper quick save don't save the time correctly (mine was blocked at 14:45:13) the rest of saves worked (auto save , manual save) but with Fix-Reloaded i can't see any issues.

Now this is my kinda game, so much things to find. You'll probably miss more than half the game if you don't properly explore. And thank god a dev house finally realized a gameworld doesn't have to consist of a single layer, I actually have to look up in this game! Now that is something to get used to.
Its openness might be its biggest 'downfall' though, I doubt many gamers will experience this game in full glory. I'm waiting for a shitstorm of "this fucking game sucks and is short" reviews. If anyone finishes this game under 15 hours, I highly doubt he explored enough.

Not necessarily, I mean so far only our resident rushers have posted lukewarm "reviews" but I see most people here surrendering to this wonderful game. It's crying out loud "PC gaming is very well alive and kicking!".

To be honest, money is not an issue if you explore the first three levels, I was never really broke, but then again, I haven't bought a single upgrade for the pistol or grenades/springrazors Razz
