Seems to be hard if you play it wrong. Not that there should be a way of doing so anyway.

Yeah, I'm finding this. I get quite a few hours in then everyone leaves me Sad I'm doing every mission and trying to get satelittes up asap. Money seems to be the issue.

Wow. It was like million light years since I've played any game like that. it was gorky17 I think Razz

I still think those games are stupid (enemies waiting for Your move) but addicting anyway.
Xcom seems a blast

Played this game for a few hours yesterday. Awesome! Doubt i will replace it with the PC version when it arrives, except for minor graphic changes, it should be exactly the same.

Plays fine with a gamepad, I see how a RTS game could suck using a gamepad, but turn based is no problem.

One word review: Awesome!

That said i havent played more than 10-15 missions, and i've heard the diffeculty really picks up around 15-20 missions, or around when you reach plasma rifle. Hope it dosent get too tough, would hate to restart on easy. The past 7 missions i have lost marines on a regular basic, only rookies though.
I havent enabled Iron Man, but the only times i have save/loaded in game, is when i needed to test out a feature, i wasent sure how worked. It really adds something to the game, that you can lose your highly promoted guys. You want to keep them save (alive), but you also want them up and kick some ass :=)
Many research/production options, and not enough cash to do it with, forces you to think about how you distribute your equipment, which is a nice change of pace, where in many other games you just instant upgrade all unites once you research some new stuff.

So while playing the 360 version of XCOM, we noticed a little hiccup that we hadn't seen on other versions. If you're in the barracks, and swap between a male and a female soldier, the game freaks out a little bit.

To the naked eye it looks like a really quick visual "burp", but when you slow it down like we have in these shots, well ...

I lost my best men in the base attack. And one had full rank :<

I couldn't get myself to play much more after that.

Anyone found a work around the Shiv bug? Basicly when you lose your shiv and create a new one, it cant be selected in the squad for some reason. Happened with both my normal shiv and my allow shiv. Now im hoping for a patch, so the same thing dosent happen to my hover shiv.

It's a bug on the PC version too, but it has since been patched. I guess they're waiting for MS certification before deploying the 360 patch.

Thanks. Do you know if it fixed an ongoing game? Would hate to have to restart my current.

I presume it's a retroactive fix, I don't know for sure though since I'm playing the Yarr version and don't have access to the patch grinhurt I never use the S.H.I.V anyhow, losing a multipurpose marine just for a mobile weapon? No thanks Very Happy

i dont understand why some people keep playing on after losing alot of important characters.
just load that save and retry.
this game is supposed to be play methodically, saving every few steps and re-thinking your strategy if needed.
there is no point in simply ignoring the loss of important units and later ending up with a rookie only team in a mission you cant beat.

Personally i like the way it feels to complete a challenging game. If I would save and load every second turn I wouldn't accomplish anything a three year mentally challenged girl couldn't do, and playing the game would be no fun.

Some people like to take risks and live with the consequences, a process witch adds to the feeling of accomplishment.

played the xbox and the pc version ... and the only thing different in the PC version is the SIZE Laughing pc movies are 9,5 gig coded in 1080p [whole game size 14gig] then xbox 2,3gig 720p [game size 7,8 gig]

textures are the same ... only thing the xbox360 version has is pop ins for textures and slower loading ...on PC its instant loading , not even a 1 second waiting time on xbox its 30 to 50 sec for a map

and the controls are WAY different ... in my IMO i prefer the xbox 360 version its more fun to play it and the controls are great more intuitive it does show for what platform this whole game was made .. on PC its meh controls are fucked convoluted and over complexed

i agree, the game feels like it was made for x360, while the kb + mouse controls are usually far better for rts and even turn-based strategy, in this game using a controller allows for smoother gameplay.
