Yes I have a calculator sorry WMP installed, I'll check the version but I'm sure its the latest one.
I saw what was called a blackbox version for windows but the 1gig parts were on sites that give 50k max, sod that...
Any other recommendations apart from giving up on playing FIFA 13 on my PC

IMPORTANT STEPS BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING ELSE
-update video card drivers
-run and complete Windows Update
-update directX from FIFA 13/_installer folder/directx/redist
-unplug any controler except keyboard of course
The game is designed to run on VISTA, 7 or 8 . The XP users may run it or not. It's about luck.
1. In my documents/fifa 13 you must have a "instance0" folder . If you dont have the folder create one. In that folder its replay0.bin file. If you dont have it create a txt file named replay0.txt. save it and rename it to replay0.bin, right click on it and make it "read only"
(if you dont see the .TXT extension go to control panel/folder option/view and uncheck the "hide extensions for known file types")
2. any version of the game you have (not fake, survey ones) it has normaly a FIFA 13 folder. If you have a .ISO, mount it, run installer and you will find that FIFA 13 folder. Move that folder (no fifa13 3dm or so) to Program Files/Origin Games (with space). If you dont have it create one.
3. For default, you don't need Origin. But installing Origin helped alot of people if the game still not working. Install origin and let the login window to appear and do NOTHING. Just let it there in background, without log in.
4. Windows Media Player its also requiered to play FIFA. A faulty WMP will make your game to crash (more likely after language select). You have to reset your WMP.
Go to Control Panel/Program and Features/Turn Windows Features on or Off (left side) a new window appear. Expand Media Features and uncheck the Windows Media Player. Restart PC. After restart go to same location and check back the box of WMP.
Plus you have to reset file associations in WMP. Go to Start/Default Programs--->Set your default programs, look in left side for windows media player, click it, and in right side choose Set this program as default. Done.
5. Also for game crash, try lowering your resolution and game quality to minimum to see if the game starts or works properly.
6. Try also to run fifa.exe as administrator.
7. People with non-english letters in their Windows user name account (like śćżź and so) will get a crash on settings saves. Please use an Windows account with english letters only.
Most of that list seems like made up nonsense, I have a controller plugged in, no origin, game is not in an origin folder and running without admin rights, but it might work for someone
I was getting the blackscreen on startup, then the game would ctd with no errors
I tried the 1st step from the list above, it didn't help
What did work was running the Fifaconfig and setting my res in there, v-sync on and fps to 60, the game started fine after that
edit: The game only works if started from fifaconfig.exe, still a blackscreen from fifa13.exe, weird
mh seems fifa got updated today (first time today i launched origin), 200mb patch. any notes about it?
edit: found some notes about it on a german site, to lazy to search for the english one.

This gave is shit in one particular way - in Pro mode, the CPU players on either team have this stupid habit of just passing the damn ball back and forth, usually in their penalty area, no matter how many opposing players are nearby.
Anyone else noticed this?

game settings, audio, commentary language. buuuuut if only own the digital copy the game will crash on loading a game when language is changed. need a fixed data7.bh and data7.big files. although the size is the same it only works after changing them
slow speed isnt possible online you know that? limited to ea settings, sliders only affect offline matches. and yes its a shame,that everyone plays assisted. when opponentsearch is set to my config i usually dont find anyone, but i really dont care. think its more fun to play with manual settings even though you might lose a match cause some shots could have been goals with assisted settings...
only thing i hate are those fucking dudes who dont cancel replays etc and pause the game 5-6 times only to wait for the timer to count down... and they havent fixed the leaving bug till now, score a goal within the first 5 min of the game the opponent usually quits (honorless bastards) and guess what? game doenst count as victory for you

I knew about sliders but assumed that the slow speed was actually working since the custom search (online) allowed me to select between fast/normal/slow.
I agree on everything though, quitters are a disgrace and manual mode is so much better than the hurr durr assisted one. I would make the online mode manual-only if I was a developer
