I loved DOOM 3 back when I played it on the OG Xbox, and I'm really looking forward to playing it through again. I seem to recall it being the atmosphere that was top-notch at the time; that claustrophobic feeling was fantastic while it lasted.

Doom3 seems to be very underrated game. It is very atmospheric, have great graphics and. fuck it -its id software game !

Funny enough this was a FPS that was horror, while other games when they turned FPS became less horror...

It's that specular lighting effect making every surface shiny and reflective but as you said it was already in the default game whereas mods like Sikkmod only further enhance it, I've no idea about the mechanics behind it but I imagine it would require a lot of work to change this and probably a bit of retexturing too.
EDIT: And PoM is not a DX11 effect.

Well part of the problem is that there's only a single global specular exponent; so every surface gets treated *exactly* the same. Doesn't matter whether it's supposed to be metal, plastic, wood - it's all treated the same. I recall someone modifying it somewhat to have per-surface exponents, making it look a lot better, I'll see if I can find that later because it's an interesting comparison.
That and the lack of an Alpha channel in the textures, which would be used for that exponent. That would give it a different exponent per pixel.

Ok so got it and whats inside BFG : on the disc you get
2 Xbla unlocked games that work on retail consoles with all addons :
Doom 1
Doom 2 + Ultimate Dioom 2 Hell on Earth
1 full game with all addons :
Doom 3 + Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil + Exclusive to BFG new Expansion called Lost Mission [7 missions with story line]
each game Doom 1 , Doom 2 , Doom 3 you can pick from a custom made menu they made
Expansions for Doom 2 and Doom 3 are picked in a in-game menu, when you pick New game you can pick if you want to play from the beginning or start only the expansions
Doom 3 on xbox 360 looks ... eeehhhmmmm oixeleted low rez textures grrrrr but they upscaled those models , changed maps a little bit ... a fine example are Swans Glasses he wears on PC they are a low rez stick model with black glass in BFG they are in polygon fancy real glasses ... brightness is ULTRA SHIT FUCKED so over-bright you have to set it to 0 ... yes ZERO to have a Doom 3 look ... oh and yes flashlight is mounted on your gear not a item no more... and thats it
its all dooms in one pack for modern consoles , doom 3 looks like you would play in on a medium calligraphic setting [console problems with theirs 256 and 512 ram problems LULZ ]... next stop all Quakes for modern consoles
