yea, the only way to play this game is on very hard, and still it's way too easy
i ghosted through the game on my first walkthrough
didn't get the achievement because a guy fell off a roof
doing a 100% murder spree now
it gets pretty hectic with ~8 guards when you die from two hits/bullets
and i really love fighting the assassins
they are pretty much what i hoped the assassins in thief3 would have been
just badass
there should be a no-magic mode where i didn't even get the blink
it's such a horrible unbalanced cheat
i will certainly try to do a ghost walkthrough on very hard without using any magic
maybe i'll lets-play it

Well that's how wonderful the game is, it let's the player decide if he wants to use the "overpowered" stuff or just play old school. I noticed you can get nearly everywhere without the Blink power, just by climbing, using chains, it's just harder and slower, but I'm sure very rewarding.
I had to double check, just to be sure I wasn't mistaking it for another game, but yep, a Thief reference
It's in the Flooded District, shortly after you enter Daud's hideout. There's an assassin in training and the speech is from the Thief tutorial word for word
Anyway, if you've missed it, I found a video as well:
Oh for fuck's sake, Ghost and Clean Hands achievements didn't unlock even though I got Ghost and no kills on every mission. No idea if it's a bug or if I messed up somewhere. Great...

Haha, I was wondering why that sounded so familiar. Nice.
I had no idea this game had moments like this when you go on a killing spree
Nothing a little liberal use of duct-tape won't fix!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

i think some of the parts in the game got cut , like those assassins type like me who appeared in chapter 3 , now i`m at 6 and the only time it appeard was then .
I guess they appear more towards the end of the game as you saw them during the prologue and then a short encounter early on, similar to those Tallboys whom are also introduced fairly late into the game, or well from what I know at least, haven't completed it yet.
It was a long time since i had played a game as good as this one, im enjoying it.
In fact im enjoying it so much that yesterday (after long months of not dreaming) i had an amazing dream, a wonderful dream about theft, kidnapping ala dishonored way with blink and all that.
I woke up awed, this game.... ive enjoyed it THAT much.
Is there any way to run Dishonored in windowed mode but at a lower resolution? Say I want 1280x720 (my laptop isn't powerful enough to handle the full resolution with good FPS), if I run it in windowed mode then the window is very small though.
I've tried using borderless/fullscreen window applications like gamecompanion but they don't seem to be compatible with dishonored. Any ideas?
Wouldn't setting windowed mode (Fullscreen -> off in that little sub menu under Video options.) and then setting resolution work?
(Set windowed and apply then set resolution and apply.)
Seems odd if it doesn't.
My computer can't handle 1920 windowed, FPS drops too much. I'm playing in 1280, which is fine, but won't work in windowed mode.
nah , that's really boring and game becomes average that way ( like playing Hitman as typical TPS )..go lethal stealth , it's awesome..
lol. i beat the game on stealth well not ghost. but didn't kill a soul. now i'm making all the evil descisions and killing everyone so many rats everywhere. lol. it's fun. after this play through... im going for ghost and then theres... flesh and steel w/o using the magic powars.
Stealth is definitely very fun but ghost just sounds somewhat pointless. Its not like hitman where being a ghost gives you more money
Also the game has some nice execution animations, its a shame not to see them.

I'm trying to avoid killing the targets (Or too many other entities.) as it affects the outcome somewhat (As a early tutorial reminds you of.), apparently it's pretty minor but might be fun to see the difference when I replay it some day, characters also behave quite differently if you let some targets live and certain encounters change.
(Not just for a high death toll but letting the actual target get neutralized without resorting to killing them.)
1 for sending away the brothers
1 for not killing anyone in the boyle party
What I like is that you can still get a High chaos ending and do a pacifist run in some missions.
You just need to have one high/low chaos mission more.
Finally got my Ghost and Clean Hands achievements, just a warning to people who want them:
(spoilers for mission 7)
Spoiler:
Do not choke Granny Rags during the sewers encounter. Blink behind her back, activate Bend Time, steal the key and sprint like hell to the top. If you try to fight her, it counts as a kill AND a detection, even if you just choke her and she never sees you. The mission stats are bugged too I guess.
I actually sided with Granny Rags and I sliced open Slackjaw just as she asked .... but it didn't count as a kill on the stats. I finished the mission and it gave me the "Didn't kill anyone" accolade.
Killed Slackjaw just for fun before any missions from him, just to figure out what the mission with Granny will be about near the end, and what a surprise- his "eaten" body is upstairs, the key is on him, and granny allows me to take it
Or just sleep bolt her from afar. Does not count as detection or kill
Unfortunately I went a bit derp and didn't
Spoiler:
take back my gear I think the only time I actually used sleep darts was when doing Granny's first quest to get rid of the three thugs in front of her house the non-lethal way, and even then it could be done without it. In all the other situations Blink+choke was the king, so I didn't bother with recovering the sleep darts. In retrospect, not the best decision I've ever made

Go figure
I guess Arkane can tolerate
Spoiler:
slicing a man's throat just that one time, but choking a poor old lady is a HUGE no-no
I actually felt guilty about it too, mostly because I remembered that
Spoiler:
I hadn't taken the artist's safe combination back to Slackjaw during the Golden Cat mission. When I saw him tied up in Granny's weird witchy slumhole, he railed at me about being a betrayer
He said that to me too but he means some other stuff, I did those two tasks for him and had that other scene.
(Old lady and her man took a bath together, or how to say it without spoiling anything.)
Anyway I finished the game with low chaos and avoided killing nearly anyone aside from tallboys and a few others (unconscious bodies near electric walls get zapped.) and liked the way the game ended, those later levels were much more fun too.
I ended up killing my targets, playing through without killing anyone just wasn't something I wanted to do, not for the sake of an achievement anyway
Wait. How can you not kill the targets you are supposed to assassinate? I can spare lives of Lady Boyle or Lord Regent?
Yes There's a non-lethal path for every single person in the game -- you could, for instance, choose;
Spoiler:
Expose the Lord Regent, by playing his log file over the announcer devices.. revealing to Dunwall that he was responsible for the rat plague and the death of Empress
As for Lady Boyle? You can knock her out and deliver her to a creepy love-stalker in the basement, who promises to take her away and hide her.. because hey... eventually she'll come to love him
