Have to say I've not had my 360 on for a while, I was given an i7 PC with half decent gfx card and played stuff on that since but thought I'd be back on the burner for Halo 4, not sure I will as its not exactly getting stunning reviews on here

Well, it's Halo, easy as that. If you liked a previous Halo game, you will probably like this one also. It's your enjoyable, mindless (mostly) One-Man-Show against an alien horde, with, imo, great enemy and level design, updated GFX and a new story arc, which I personally find interesting, till now. They didn't reinvent Halo, they refined it.
I would never compare it to a game like Dishonored, as it has been in this thread. Even though both are basically FPS games, they are totally different and there is an audience for both games.
Finished the campaign myself... it was a good game, but it was way to few wow moments. The ending was pretty good, but the road there was pretty average. Few new enemies, few new guns. Id also like more abillities.
7.5/10
AVERAGE it was epic ... the whole time i got this crazy deja vu i seen those maps , i fired those guns , i killed those enemies before , i played this story line once... and then it stuck me ... MARATHON !!!!!
they made MARATHON 3 and named it HALO 4 or remade MARATHON 1 and dubbed it HALO 4 ... here the ending of Marathon 2 ... yes that planet you see at 2:13 your fucking on in ... in HALO 4 they did it they joined the lore of MARATHON with HALO and are creating based on it a another trilogy ... hehe crazy isn't
deja vu could be awesome for people that loved earlier Halo games, I just tolerate them. Alltho I really liked being able to play 4 player split screen ONLINE in the 3rd one
The envroments seemed like they were a bit lacking. To better explain:
It seemed like it was over pretty quick and there was not alot of different places you goto.
I mean there is the human ship from the start of the game, then the planet where there is a jungle and then desert, then that forerunner place on the planet, then some human space base, then back on some forerunner ship which looks the same as the base. So like 6 different locations?

yeye, but.
What a boring game. I played for about 1-2 hours yesterday and managed to get pretty far. By running. There was like one closed door that only opened after killing some bug dude. Otherwise I could outrun everyone and get to whatever location I needed to without shooting off one single shot!? This is on normal btw.
The reason I did this was to see if next area was as boring as the last one. Ended up in a jungle, but it seemed as linear as the others. Much more so than the earlier series. It never opens up. At least not to this point.
I just completed it in like 7 hours and i love it, miles better then Halo Reach.
Amazing game, 343 studio's did very good
orly then what ending did you got ? there are two ... a halo game with 2 endings wow ... and yeah they even have a longer ending vid if you end it on Legendary ... or fuck it and play tat bink file
finished it, don't believe the two endings thing though there is one after you finish the game and one after the credits are done. Do you mean those two?
And regarding the game, its halo awesomeness as always with better graphics. For people expecting something different, why? It's all about the combat in halo, and they refined that even more. Still the best fps combat imo. in games like cod, you have one way to kill enemies and slightly different weapons to do the same thing. Get behind cover shoot until ammo is empty or enemies are dead. This is not the case in halo. You are constantly switching weapon setups and tactics. If you play one arena 3 times, you probably will tackle it different each time. Halo is the only game, where i play the single player multiple times, since its not the same each time around.
Really don't get the haters expecting deus ex here... its different but at least as good (better imo) in its category...
the game is great and especially in coop.
great level and enemy design, pacing, fun vehicles and weapons, good graphics and beautiful scenery.
halo series are imo the last old-school fps games with typically fast-paced, hectic and extremely solid gameplay, these games dont rely on shitty superficial gimmicks like most other nowadays.
yep, the challenge is decent, in one area you may get a good melee run through a shitload of enemies, in the next area you may suddenly get punished horribly for even trying it
its great fun, in later missions there is hardly any downtime, enemies surrounding you from all sides, you are trying to survive in any way you can: throwing around grenades wildly, emptying every weapon you can find lying around, frantically hijacking vehicles to get away, desperately sprinting ammo-less for the one viable cover in proximity while having to melee a couple of enemies in your path.
halo 4´s gameplay is really pure, this is what shooters used to be like long time ago.

This is just like Dishonored where you can finish the game without killing anyone, you just run ! its a feature !

so now people complain about not having to kill all the enemies too?
if it was the opposite everybody would be crying about having to kill all the enemies to open
up the next area, lack of freedom, yadda yadda ...
i guess no game is fun when there is too much sand in the vagina.
Sry but.. what?
There's one thing not having to kill enemies in a stealth game, with complex level design and verticality and another thing in a linear fps where shooting stuff is pretty much all you can do
either way, there is no reason against having the option to run try, besides later on its much more difficult to simply run through.
otherwise, you can always crank up the difficulty.
