Deleting the 'Game Data' actually, and YES, it does take that long. In fact, I just did this on Sunday, as I was clearing all the useless data gobbling up my hard drive space and Resistance 3 took me close to an hour to delete it's game data, which weighed a measly 2.7GB or so. |

yes, blame dumb ass sony and/or game devs. internet is full of people furious about this issue. can't believe they never fixed and it's a first party game. mind blowing.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't keep track of what updates you've downloaded but i think it checks to see what updates are installed and if they are... then it'll ask if you wanna re-download them or skip em.

I installed E3 4.30 on mine, works fine and no tacky name tags when it boots.
i7 3770k, GTX980, 16GB Ram, SSD Raid0, Internet 3rd world shit not worth mentioning

Yo guys I got a problem, I can't seem to update to 4.30 rogero, I have downgraded back with the downgrade firmware but everytime I go into recovery it can't find 4.30 update and when I try updating it from xmb it detects it but then says Update data of version 2.16 or later can be installed on this system. (8002F967). Do I need to format the hdd first?
Edit: ahh I used the qa pkg and now its detected it in recovery mode and now installing.
Edit2: maybe not just got a error msg saying Data is corrupted. Heh

u are still on rogeros hybrid downgrade firmware. just install rogero 3.55 cfw from recovery - then qa - then install 4.30 cfw

@ Nailbiter: only through a hardware flash. Check your console model to see what kind of flasher you need; your console can also not have left the factory with anything above 3.55. It must've come out of the box with 3.55 or lower, or you can't do it.
SKUs to see whether it's downgradable: http://ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models
After that:
- Fat CECHA to CECHG: Progskeet only, will require spaghetti soldering or possibly the 360 clip (but I've seen 0 people who've used that).
- All other fats and downgradable slims: Progskeet, Teensy (both can be used with NOR clip) or E3 Flasher - E3 is the neatest of the three.
In addition to the flasher, you also need a service mode dongle. A partially incomplete guide can be found at http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?p=387584
I'm gonna try and downgrade one soon myself

4.31 is indeed optional, no need for any bypass to log in since SOny allows 4.30 fine.

At this moment it has 4.11 ofw
Is it possible to put cfw back on it?

well,maybe you confused with EBOOT.BIN.BAK when created ? don't take it. take the new Eboot without .BAK . anyway you don't need to package,just resign the eboot and replace

Do I just need to install the normal .pkg, then resign the EBOOT? Does the game need to be "cracked" somehow and THEN I resign the EBOOT?
EDIT: Also, I notice errors using this "re-signer" business, are these errors important?

Well stupid me, I bricked my 60gb phat ps3 while reverting back to cex from dex 3.55. I was trying flash the 3.55 cfw after succesfully restoring my backed up nand to go back to cex from FSM. Basically i did a typo on renaming the cfw and fsm coulnd find ps3updat.pup and gave up (checked logs). Me thinking i bricked the console gave up and took console out of fsm. By the time i realized what i did, i was introduced with a ylod blinking show  Anyone can help me out with this one? Ive read some forums that you only need a usb dongle to bring it back to life but im not sure. Dont wanna spend a lot of dough on it to fix it when i can buy a used one from fleabay or gamestop.
