just tried this, but to no avail. I open the awc.dll and change the 85 to 84 in the 18534 offset, but nothing. Origin still starts.
edit: actually the offset in 18534 is E8
do i change that to 84 ? (saw this on some youtube clip, but they say "change it from 85 to 84 ... but there is no 85 lol). |
I just used this one.

Yeah, I've basically stopped using origing thanks to this (except when I got MOHW). It's an awesome little tweak that let's me bypass this garbage.

Frostbite 2
Like I mentioned in the MoF topic it really is a shame that this engine will probably never being used along with a good game... not by EA and not by anyone else since apparently it's "too complicated" for us PC crowd

Well they are not letting anyone else (outside of EA) to use the engine, so if anything is coming out, it will be from EA, which is kinda limiting.
Considering that they are using it for DA3, I suppose we can expect the next Mass Effect to do this as well. ME in Frostbite could have been really great, especially ME3, due to all the "universe at war thing". The grand fight for Earth barely even felt like a skirmish with the way Bioware did it... |
Yep haven't finished ME3 yet (I will..eventually) but the UE3 sadly wasn't exactly well implemented, probably because of a mix between laziness and console limitations. With the Frostbite 2 surely the animations would have been much smoother, and the cinematic special effects more involving like you mentioned. Though as always talent>>>engine: if the level designers suck, choosing a better engine doesn't necessarily mean having a better looking game.

Exactly, those are two great examples Mirror's Edge deserves to be mentioned too.
If you compare these games with Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Turok or even Medal of Honor 2010 it's even clearer.

I suppose that's a fair point on the engine not being the most important part. But so far most of UE games all felt kinda limited to me when it came to grand outdoors. It would still feel like you are in a corridor or some enclosed space quite often. A bit flat too... not so much detail to the terrain.
I think Bulletstorm actually had one of the better implementations of UE for outdoors. Certainly felt a bit more alive than most other games.
