Question - is it possible to get this somewhere and play it offline on a LAN?
Will be having a LAN tomorrow, will be between 10 to 15 people, but almost no-one owns GO, and first off, even if I managed to talk everyone into buying it, the place we're going to be at to have room for 15 people, only has like 2mbit connection, because it's just a building used for plays (like on a stage). So we're glad it has internet at all So we don't want to wait for games to download and/or verify.
All I wanna know if there's some simple way or release thats just install, crack and play. Offline, LAN and with bots if possible.

Not really. It's possible to still run it if u ran it during free weekend/own it & login with ur acc on the PC you want to run it on. Reason for this is CEG protection, so each PC needs it's own client.dll generated. There is a crack under progress, but it doesn't work properly yet, maybe within few days.
So if u (or one of u) do have it legit, you can login with that acc on each PC & run the game once. Then you can run the game thru the exe with steam running in background even when not logged in (but can't run it directly from steam on an acc that doesn't have it. run it from exe)
Then one of you start a match with bots, do sv_lan 1 in console (iirc) & others do connect x.x.x.x (x.x.x.x being IP of the PC)..
So yeah, it's not the simplest to play it on lan atm, but it's possible.

I'm liking this game a whole lot (didn't expect this as i played every CS iteration to date). New game modes are very fun. It looks nice for the most part (some weird shading on indoor textures here and there). Can't believe I'm saying this but the best part is matchmaking. So easy to find games that run all maps and no mods. I hated playing older CS games where every server was infested with some kind of garbage mod, retarded skins, sounds and whatnot.
all in all well worth 7 euros i paid for it. it's about 10x better than CoD trash.

Install the game on all the computers with your Steam account. Run it at least once then switch Steam into Offline mode. Everybody will play with your Steam account but as long as you are not in Online mode, there won't be any conflict.

Release notes for 1/23/12
Spoiler: | [ MAJOR CHANGES ]
- A new game mode has been added to matchmaking and offline play: Deathmatch.
- Weapon balance and recoil were adjusted with pro community input ( Thanks to J3Di, NiP, VeryGames, ESC, 4NOT, mTw, and FM TOXiC )
- In addition to global changes that affect all weapons, specific adjustments have been made to: rifles, pistols, and the P90.
- Weapon purchasing changes:
- The AWP's kill reward was increased from $50 to $100.
- The Glock is now a Terrorist only weapon.
- The FiveseveN is now a CT only weapon.
- The Terrorists' molotov price has been reduced to $500. The CT's incendiary grenade remains $850.
- Note that the pistol arrangement has changed in the buymenu.
- The messaging system has been converted to protobuf.
- Demos recorded with previous versions of CS:GO will not be compatible as of this update. In order to view old demos, set your 'beta' to 'demo_viewer' in the CS:GO betas property panel, in Steam. Don't forget to set it back to 'NONE' when you want to play online again.
- If you are running SourceMod on your server, you will need to update to the latest version. For details, see: http://www.sourcemod.net/index.php
[ MINOR CHANGES ]
- Added some performance improvements for low-end clients.
- Fixed some fence materials that were allowing players to see through smoke grenades.
- GOTV spectator UI will now correctly show kevlar and helmet information for players.
- Avatars will now correctly load for all players when connected to a GOTV server or when watching a demo.
- Added support to notify players during servers maintenance downtime.
- Fixed a dedicated server exploit where community dedicated servers could masquerade as official and get players searching for official game modes connected to them (saigns.de)
- Fixed a rare problem when clients matchmaking for Classic Competitive game could be stuck on green Accept screen
- Fixed a rare problem when clients could connect to a Classic Competitive game and then later be disconnected for failing to accept the match.
- Improved algorithm pinging whitelisted dedicated servers when searching for Classic Competitive games, pinging less addresses fixes occasional problems for some customers where address translation tables on their routers would fill up and their routers would fail to route required packets to display the green Accept screen.
- Added support for mm_dedicated_search_maxping to restrict client's ping when matchmaking for Classic Competitive games. ( Matchmaking algorithm will still be prioritizing best servers to minimize ping of all party members. )
- Fixed a rare server crash when bots attempted to shoot the bomb defuser.
- Fixed a client crash when downloading a lot of custom assets from community servers.
[ NOTES TO MAPMAKERS ]
- DEATHMATCH:
- Deathmatch uses the nav mesh to create spawn points. Make sure that your nav is contained within the bounds of your map to ensure that players aren't spawned outside of it. Use map_showspawnpoints to see where spawn points were generated.
- If you want to use mapper-placed spawnpoints instead of the randomly generated ones, place an info_map_parameters in your map and set usenormalspawnsfordm ("Use Normal Spawns in Deathmatch?) to true.
- WORKSHOP:
- We're launching the private beta for workshop maps. If you're a map maker, mail csgo_sdk@list.valvesoftware.com with the subject "Map Workshop Beta" and your steam id in the content, with a link to maps shipped ( or maps in progress ) suitable for the Workshop.
- Please use the CSGO SDK list for discussions about Deathmatch and Workshop.
Thanks. |
Anyone who's got the game: How's recoil and balance now?

Rumored to be going F2P and/or Valve to start releasing community maps for competitive mode that will cost money.

That's what admins are for. There are dedicated servers with admins, right?

Well buddy made me get it and it's great. Takes me back to old CS days. New Community maps are little hard to get use to. I like the 5 on 5 competitive part! It ranks u based on ur skills... I got ranked at a nova gold which boosted my ego (I'm a noob) but now I'm getting grouped with goooooodddd players players and i suck lol.
Also I purchased a headset for this game and man what a difference lol im such a noob

all of you people who say cs go is like 1.6 are damn stupid. we really need a 1.6 remake , source engine is not good, animations are stupid and the weapons too, like hailey said, feels like hl2.

1.6 graphics are artifacts at this stage. Yes I understand fully that cs wasn't about graphics it was about game play but there is a limit. Hit detection seems the same as 1.6 to me but I haven't played 1.6 in ages maybe ill reinstall it and see what difference I see

its not about graphics, its about the overall feeling , guns feel stiff, player movement the same, they should use an other engine , people that are still playing it these days its not because of the graphics lol. movement , fluids, guns feel more fluid.
