The same thing (OK, less 1 half-assed quest and some extra companions) for half the price isn't better?

C'mon, its not the same thing. Its the question of whether the changes will be for the good or for the bad of gameplay. And the price argument is also without value. We are on a pirate forum and on top of that most of us already own Baldurs Gate.
This version potentially has a value, the one on GOG for me has no. If I wanted to buy BG1 again, I'd go to ebay and find boxed original with bound manual and a map.

I think if they had announced them coming together, perhaps people would be a bit more positive. Missed opportunity.

I've been so hyped for this game, but those screenshots, I might as well play with the original game. Hopefully the added content will be decent.

The screens are part of a new interview released today, but are actually pretty old. We talked about them in here back in early September, they were actually the first look we had at the new UI.
There hasn't been new screenshots since the delay, that's most likely why those were used for the article you saw. (The very small screens in the Redbull's article could be new, but sadly too small to really see anything)
There IS a trailer coming tho. It's done, it just needs approval from Wizard/Atari before it can be released.
Edit : The lead writer (Dave Gross, author of Pathfinder Tales and Forgotten Realms novels) had an AMA on Reddit. He released some nice tidbits of information on the new characters and what could come next. Not much tho, mostly teasing.
It also seems like a trailer is not the only thing waiting for approval, they have more short stories coming.

What should they patch? The game has been fixed over and over again by the community during years. Vanilla + mods was as final as it can get.

Why would you play it through an emulator?? That's just silly. Of course the controls would suck.

How did you play it on a tablet? GemRB is the only way that i know of (for ipad) and it's terrible since the controlls, but most of all, the UI, isnt designed for ipad.
edit: when i think of it, the controlls were actually good, it was just the ui which was problematic to use, it also had some slight graphical bugs.

Gemrb is not an emulator. It's an open source version of the infinity engine the can run some of the IE games using the original assets. The interface was great and works pretty damn good on tablets. Not to mention it looks better than the shit screenshots these guys have released.
