Try StartIsBack, it's the real Windows 7 start menu, and you can skin it.

So LeoNatan, are you on Windows 8? If so what do you think? Should I move over? Any benefits?

I have been on Windows 8 for some time (upgraded from 7). With StartIsBack it's functional. But really there is no point if you are uninterested in the new main features of Windows 8. Yes, it is more secure, yes, it is faster, yes, it has a better explorer and task manager - but not really worth it. With StartIsBack, it is good enough for me not to want to go back to 7, and probably if I have to format/reinstall, will remain with Windows 8. I guess that says something.

So anything on aero for win8? Or has anyone tried Rainmeter on win8 yet?
With all this custom shit going on, these are the only things holding me back from going to win8.

You mean CMD.exe? It hasn't changed since 2000 probably.

Not even something custom made by someone else that makes it look like aero?

No. I saw some skin that put back transparency on borders, but they are not blurred like in 7, so it doesn't look good at all.

Meh too bad then i guess.
I always moved to new OS when they came out (even vista, i know, shame on me (but it ran flawless here)), but this will have to wait then for now

Not only, but among small company. Aero was very elegant, especially compared to this one now, that looks like Windows 3.11. Gradients from Aero could have been removed without the removal of the blurred transparency. But no, retarded tablets can't run it on some shitty Tegra 3 with blur.

StartIsBack supports it natively. I'm sure there are other solutions as well.

Unfortunately you're also an Apple-duck so your point is sort moot, or your weight in these matters lighter than they should be...

There we go with the trolling. Had you actually tried OS X, you'd see it's a much more serious and elegant operating system than Windows 8 will ever be.

Thats not a hard mark to beat..Windows Bob is a much more serious and elegant operating system than Windows 8 will ever be.

Yes, I have tried OS X (10.5 was the last one I tried I think), but I fail to see what that has got to do with anything. I don't run Windows 8, I'm sticking with Windows 7. OS X felt like skinned FreeBSD with a ton of apps.. Oh wait....
