There is one fantastic setpiece, which I sort of saw coming, but I just thought "oh shit" when it happend.
The AI is easily the best i've seen in a game, they talk to each other, interact with the environment and generally give you a good workout every time you fight them. One jumped over the side of the railing, another ran behind some crates for cover and the other two dived out of the way. Looked so cool, all in slow motion!

You're damn right on everything their. Haven't had such intens gun fights sins Call of Duty and these gunfights here are much better then in CoD.
AI is much much better then in most games, hell I was even being flanked even in BiA the AI did not trie to flank me.
Gun damage is perfect, if you aim good a enemy drops just like that if you aim bad it takes alot of shots.
Runs perfect here on a AMD XP2600, Geforce 6800 (77.77), 1 GB.
Only thing I did not so much is that some area's where to dark, or the flashlight lights up to weak.

I haven't tried the soft shadows : i let the autodetect option setting the
gfx informations and i just changed the res to 1280x960
I experienced some slowdown at the beginning but i found it was related to the Vsync option which was on. Try to disable it , maybe it can help...
BTW I'll give a try with soft shadows on . Did u try to see the performance
with AA set to 2x or 4x on your geforce 7800gtx ? |
O.k., I have soft shadows disabled and shadows on medium, 1024x768 (4xAA, 4xAF), everything else is on maximum. At the beginning in the movie where the soldiers are standing in a row with the machinguns I get like 20 fps. Then in the car about 28. outside before going down the ladder around 30. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Then I get around 50 downstairs but in gunfights about 25 again. In other words, it runs like crap here. A 7800GTX should do better!

This runs like crap for me too, the rest however runs fine..

This was running ok for me, slow down only occured near shadows..

It's really only the shadows which arn't very well optimised. It's a shame because the soft shadows look awesome. Ah well, the game looks great anyway.

Which forceware drivers are U using (mine are the last official ones 77.72)
Otherwise, it's maybe due to the CPU (Athlon 3000+) : i hear somewhere that in order to run at best ,a 3500+ was fine with the geforce 7800gtx but it's just a thought ....

Runs like a wonder, soft shadows OFF, because thats just too much of a preformance hit, not worth it to have rounded shadows, and volumetric lights OFF, runs super good everything else at absolute max =D

I´m also running these drivers. And my cpu is A64 3000+ yes, but @2,43ghz so its nearly 4000+

i changed from the official nvidia drivers to 80.40 and i got a lot of frames more now !°!°!°
i can easy play 1024 x768 everything on maximum 16 af 4 aa
no slowdowns

Not that impressed, atmosphere / level design is rather uninteresting, about as scary as doom3 (not at all imho). Great action and AI though.

dunno why,but no one ever raised this question:
the game uses a new engine...or doom3\hl3 etc engine?
just for curiosity.

CPU : AMD "Barton" 2500+.

do think that game have the most demanding SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
i mean what about quake and COD2 do u think they need more power ??

on the readme under sound tittle they saying that ther is file neme:"WMFADist.exe" that can be found at the fear demo installation folder. i do not have this file in my installation folder and this file may solve a sound problem for me.
if anyone can give me link to this file(WMFADist.exe) i will be very thanksfull.
