Btw. the demo crashed already twice. Couldn´t finish it yet. I thought that my gfx card is getting too hot but then maybe the whole pc would crash (as it does when it´s hot and my card is oc`ed). In this case I can go back to desktop with CtrlAltDel.

no, quake is doom 3 engine dont need much power !!
dont know about call of duty...........but i think it wont need more power than fear
stalker will need a lot of power because u can see that it was lagging in the fights in the e3 video ........... |

you ppl are stupid... you can run it with lower settings... thats like if the programmers wouldve made it look not so good in the first place... what are you complaining about?? why would you rather want the game look not so good than have the possibility to have it in its full beauty?
and you can play the game fluently... with... lower... settings... if... your... computer... is... too... shitty... aight?

I think 1024x768, everything on max (o.k., soft shadows off), 4xAA, 4xAF is low enough for a A64 4000+, 7800gtx and 2gb Ram. And I indeed have to put the shadows to minimum to play it smoothly. That sux.

still i don't get you guys.
if you have a high-end machine, you can play this game smoothly with everything on high.
if not, you have to lower some settings. where's the problem?
i'm playing it at 1024x768, 2aa, 2af, soft shadows off, shadows on med.....and it looks fuckin great !

on one hand everybodys complaining about too shitty graphics and on the other hand about too high hardware requirements... oh boy... maybe you shouldnt blame the developers of the game but the hardware industry that doesnt give you good enough hardware to play the game eh?

IF YOU GOT A FUCKING 7800 GTX AND GAMES STILL ARE CHOPPY THEN YOU HAVE GOT YOURSELF A PROBLEM WITH YOUR COMPUTER, FACE IT, ACCEPT IT!!
Runs absolutely fine here, 25+ fps, never lower no matter what.
Everything at max except soft shadows, noticed that AA hogged down the framerate for some reason in this game, so i turned it off.
God damn fucking computer-newbies with their new 7800's that their mommy bought them.
Use them like 7800's, not like 5800's. "waah waah i cant play CS cuz it lags on my 7800!!" Well grow a brain, troubleshoot, and fix it.
Fucking drives me mad, give me the card and you can have my 6800, since you are claiming you get the same preformance as a 6800 anyway.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 RAM: 4gb Kingmax DDR2 800mhz Video: Asus GeForce 250GTS 1gb Sound: Asus Xonar.

sorry but i disagree this engine needs some heavy optomising and my card which is at stock speeds, and never.. and i MEAN never overheats with any game is having problems. Now before you say oh get more fans i have fans coming out my ass i have the system as cool as its humanly possible to get it, but damn does this game make this card go hotter than unholy hell coupla that with the fact that the game just runs bad, across the board ppl with high end systems are having a hard time running this game at anything near consitant, sorry but FPS jumps of ~50FPS is something high end hardware just shouldnt be having to deal with. PC gaming is gonna be at a big disadvantage soon because new consoles coming can better this and at a better more consistant performace ratio. Shame really because the game looks real good its just the optimisation is absolute ass atm

Hey IDIOT, if you want to flame go to isonews! I know you are envious of my 7800GTX mommy bought me (*lol*), I´m just telling how things are. Maybe there´s an issue with this card and this game but I think that only the shadows are too much performance intense. Go to a friend, if you have one, with a 7800 GTX and see for yourself.
Hey wow, it runs 25+ fps with you card ? Great if you´re satisfied with this. Try getting 100 fps+ in BF2 @ 1280x1024, 4xAA, 8xAF, so WHAT to fix ? Btw., I never play CS.

It's playable on my 4200Ti but I wasn't emrged as much as i'm sure I would be on high graphic settings. The demo is short and i wasn't experiencing the 'hair on the back of ur neck' stuff, it certainly didn't scare me like some of you made it out to. Although I did get bored with the demo because it was just shoot, run through a door etc. there didn't seem to be any puzzle elements invovled and is there a run button? I didn't bother checking but that's what it needed

why? because i'm wrong? u have ANY idea how many ppl with high end rigs r having performance problems. Sorry to burst ur bubble mate but if this is the future of pc gaming..games that run like complete fucking shit on $2000 worth of hardware forgive me if i decide to pay for a console thats less than $500 will do the same thing if not more for the time being on the next gen systems. oh no wait it doesnt have kb and mouse..well fuck kb and mouse constant FPS is much more important

Well for me the game runs fairly good if not great...at max settings 1024x768 with soft shadows on.
For me it only jerks when I enter a new area then it places itself.
But I agree this game is a monster requirement beast.
Personnaly I think the game will be great and will ready us for next year awsome line up and new graphics technology.

You´re right man. Most people think that any game must run extremely great on the best available system but it´s not true, although it´s well configured. But it´s interesting to see that the guys with low end systems claim that every game runs great on their system. Yeah, for some people 25 fps are enough and then users with high end systems are the lamers because they are not satisfied with 30 fps @ the newest games. Well they only payed 600 for a gfx card. And that´s big fun for ppl with cheap ass hardware, so they don´t need to feel bad because high end pc users have problems to run a badly programmed game with everything (!) maxed out! (and don´t come with F.E.A.R. now, cuz it´s well programmed except of the shadows).

yea but it jerks..thats the whole crux of my argument i have a pc i ploughed a fair amount of money into for gaming and this game has issues on high end rigs now. The stutters tbh are wose than the ones were in hl2 before i upgraded and beleive me i figured u know i'll drop my bonus on a kickass system best of everything and i cant run a game and get amazing performance. Thje engine isnt well coded because the scalability is crap, start downsizing those settings in F.E.A.R and it looks no where nr as good in comparison as say HL2 did scaled down and the FPS is still shit. Unless state of pc gaming becomes more comsumor friendly and less for a hardware elitist wankfest i think come xbox360 i know where i'll be spending my gaming $$

To all the people complaining about the engine. The game still isn't finished yet. There's still more than 2 months left until it comes out. There's plenty of time to tweak it.
And for the people with the 7800 cards. Ever think the drivers aren't fully optimized yet? I mean the card is pretty new. The drivers now probably aren't fully optimized for the card so that's why (from what some of you guys are saying) the 6800 are running it better.
But I could be just talking out of my ass.

I think the same thing. Most games run great with 7800GTX but there are exceptions (like Far Cry with HDR on), but these are not the users fault, like some people think. A new forceware driver set has to come!

A lot of people feel uncomfortable with 25fps : i think that you don't remark
any clipping/lag from 35fps instead...
