And only for the Professional Edition IIRC. Buying a more expensive version of the game for some guns?

how does this game get 80-90% at metacritic/gamerankings
while you guys say it's utter shit / decent game.
don't get me wrong, i'm on your side judging on the gameplay videos.
But... IGN gave it 9.
just... how's that possible Wink
Laughing

derpGN gave it a 9, so what?
Aside from MoF (because everyone else was doing it too, perhaps?) is there any mainstream game that they review that gets anything below an 8?

BTW I have no idea if it's a shit game or not.
But from what most people are posting it really doesn't seem like an Hitman game.... whatever that is

EDIT: Oooooh nice, just won (maybe, if it isn't a scam giveaway grinhurt) Blood Money on steamgifts. Very Happy

True. I guess you can also say for BF3 people got free keys from EA tech support Laughing

Doesn't matter how they acquired it. The point is, most people here have the legit copy so thats why not many requests for an immediate scene release

I doubt there will be a scene release anytime soon, they use CEG+custom protection, remember how long Sniper Challenge took to crack?
Furthermore the contracts mode, scoring system and upgrades (??!) seem to be linked to online functions, this is not gonna be easy.

Eh... no Smile
Waited for the reviews and not sorry I didn't buy it.
Might play it once it goes on sale or when the isodemo is out.
But I might not even bother when it does.

I'm waiting for crack (didn't buy it). But I think I'll enjoy it, most of the criticism I've read concerns things I don't really care about... the disguise system (from what I understand, the game mechanic works but people seem to dislike that it feels unrealistic), the checkpoints, a few forced action scenes...

people seem to dislike that it feels realistic

*Fixed* Wink

_____

Personnaly the more I play Absolution the more I prefer it over Bloodmoney. (seriously)
- Story mode has to be taken as ... story mode.
- For sand box play we have contracts which seems very promizing (endless possibility, competition, friends contracts sharing, ...)
- And as discussed earlier disguise system feels realistic, if you search something similar to Bloodmoney play on "normal" difficulty and you are done.
- Expert and purist mode are ridiculously hard (AI uberpowered), but hey if you can't handle it stay on "normal/Hard mode"

AI is imho excellent in some ways :
- I mean for instance, when I disguise into a cook on the first mission, the security chief said "Huh? the cook have a new assistant ? Why nobody told me about that ?"
- Sometimes you "delete" a guard and then another come along the way and says "WTF? where is Simon ?" At the radio : "Did anyboby know where Simon is?" and then he eventually got an answer !
- When it comes to a shooting party, you can sometimes hear ennemies screaming the name of the guy you just killed, like "OMG ! He killed Keny ! - You bastard !"
- Also sometimes the world feels pretty alive, I like listening to phone conversations ^^

My note so far 9/10 (still waiting to see what Contracts mode has to offer to put this note up or down slightly).

Wink

I cannot say yet if it's better than Blood Money or not, but I can say it's pretty good. And I agree it's more realistic, especially with how the disguising works now, you need to keep a safe distance from your similarly outfitted peers now, contrary to all previous games. However, I agree the instinct thing wasn't the best way to approach it. It still doesn't bother me that much and I rarely use it (playing on Expert).

I've read some people saying that the AI is super dumb, etc. All I can say is the AI is just as dumb as ever in the Hitman series. I have yet to see fairly sophisticated AI in any Hitman game.

@Silent_Lurker
not gonna compare it to bloodmoney, all i wanted was a stealth game and i got one Smile

and also finished bloodmoney last week again after 6 years and seemed so meh now but back then tought it was awesome; so i guess ppl evolve and so are games, and in this streamlined and cinematic period, absolution is great

Because it's nothing like older Hitman games?

I couldn't care less if it's a good game by some people's standards, it's not a new game, it's apart of a series, it's a Hitman game, and as a Hitman game it fails miserably. Miserably.

I thought you of all people would understand why, even if you do like it, it's insanely obvious as to why

Really? Nothing like Hitman games? It has disguises, a fantastic (anti)hero, fiber wire, hiding in plain sight, accidents...

It's definitely different than Blood Money, but saying that it's not a Hitman game or that it's similar to Conviction is a huge exaggeration.

I still play Absolution like a Hitman game, I have yet to fire a shot, I have yet to kill anyone but the target. Sure, the levels may not be as large as those in BM, but compare the graphic fidelity of H:A and HBM. It's obvious that the level design was constrained by console hardware.

The AI, whether you admit it or not, is definitely improved. Finally not the whole level goes after you when you kill one guy or stay in one place for too long.

Yes, the instinct system is annoying, but if you didn't have it, you could run through the whole level in 2 minutes and the AI wouldn't catch up with you.

for me, i think the only thing that ruins it... now that i think about it... is the scoring. i think the ony thing that should matter is guards suspicions and getting busted. its a pity i get punished for throwing a silent knife into someones head or snapping a hookers neck.

the game itself, while a bit too guided, is still a lot of fun. just get rid of the scoring.. i feel like im being 'bad' every time i try and be a badass hitman Sad if you want to be a silent sneak who only kills the mark, then fine.. let THAT success be your reward... not numbers that punish for anyone who wants to play differently is all im sayin.

oh man, i nailed a guy right in the face with a thrown axe... that was fricken awesome!

Is there an RPG system based on the score? Or do your abilities improve in any way during the campaign?

@Interinactive

I still agree with some of your point here. Wink

Doors "auto close" thing is annoying, and I miss the sniper case as well.
And why can we sneak from cover and not from key hole.

The rest doesn't really bother me, and I am still enjoying this game very much. Wink

I take it the safehouse and weapon (or disguise) purchasing is then done in the Contracts mode?
(Will mean most DLC only apply to that mode as well.)
