I'm finding the story and characters rather bland and boring in this game. Maybe if I knew more about the American revolutionary war and the people I might have found it more compelling.

But that doesn't change the fact that Connor is an asshole and I don't like him. Smile

Can anyone else confirm that this crack is indeed marked as a false positive?

I'm running 1920x1200 and the game ain't full screen, aka 16:10, any ideas?

Reloaded version BTW Smile

Also, can one remove the 'uplay' and 'punkbuster' crap without affecting the game?

The naval mission in the storm was very well done. The frontier in the winter is beautiful. The tree running thing is a brilliant addition, but it's a bit sad it's relatively limited. I understand it would be techniclally very hard to climb every tree you can see, but this way it feels very limited.

Oh noez, black barzzzz!!1 Laughing

This whining has been going on since the first AC. Laughing Good thing most people have since moved to widescreen. Letterboxing is not as apparent, I assume, and yet some people still don't like it.

Of course not. Why would anyone "like" losing screen real-estate? Neutral Black bars are a friggin' scourge and should never be an issue to gamers -- use aspect ratio correction, ffs! >:[

But you can say the same for movies, for example. Why do directors use 2.35:1 letterboxing instead of the available 16:9 space on a bluray? Why not use open matte? It's a choice the designers have made.

I didn't mean you. You should have seen the AC1 days, when people with 5:4 whined. Laughing

I like 16:10 too, it is a much better aspect ratio for desktops.

It's not the same, games aren't "shot" on "film" - the designer has full control over aspect ratio and how much to show on screen -- and AR can, and should, be dynamically adjusted based on your screen. It's just "artistic vision omgomgomgfapfapfap" and it sucks.

... personal opinion, of course Wink I dislike losing ANY amount of the screen to dead space.

Admit it, you were one of the 5:4 screen owners for a long time. Laughing

"the designer has full control over aspect ratio and how much to show on screen" - Indeed, and they have decided to only show you the 16:9 window. It really isn't all that hard to extend a viewport to resize with resolution. In fact, it takes extra work to have it the way it is here. Correct FOV is also very easy, that's why I " Facepalm " every time a game screws that up.

1280x1024 for years! Hell, I only got my first 16:10 monitor back in 2009 Laughing

So why call people whiners for complaining about it? Wink There really is no reason to continue the silliness with 16:9, luckily very few developers do it and usually only the lazy ones.

Because it's usually a sign of straight porting from consoles, it's less testing and bug-fixing having to code the game with the availability of automatic AR switching. Better to just go with the "TV standard, ell oh ell" 16:9 Sad

Consoles also support 4:3 for example. And most games support that aspect ratio on consoles too.

So again it comes back to;

sabin1981 wrote:

I'm tired of black borders. I was tired of them on 4:3, tired of them on 5:4 and I'm still tired of them in 16:10. That's really all there is to it. There's no excuse other than "cinematic vision!" lol wut

Oh and some developers add them no matter what AR the game is using, such as Dragon's Dogma which has rather large black borders on 16:9 and they're insanely and uncomfortably large on the 360 when using a 16:10 resolution -- the borders get ENLARGED! >_<

That's an example of bad coding. Laughing

You don't like precise framing, and there are people who crop their films because they go "oh no there is unused black bars on mah TV lol wut ". I understand it is different with games. But to me it feels very much the same issue/non-issue. Smile

It's just horse for courses. I'm not keen on wasted screen space in movies, though I understand why it's done, but there is simply no reason for the same to be done with games.. so it irritates more than letterboxed movies. It's especially bad when you're sat 3ft from the screen Smile

let me guess, some monitor snobs on some hardware forum talked you into buying a 16:10 display instead of a more entertainment friendly 16:9? i can feel your pain, but at least you get more screen real estate when browsing porn Laughing
