they tell you in the tree climbing tutorial to press A button when you are standing in one of the v-shaped trees to climb up further.

That's not the issue there, there's no way to climb up further on that spot. It looks like you can jump to another V shaped spot but what you really have to do there is go around, to the side, on some horizontal pole like branches and jump from there.

Three hours in, and already not really up to par as far as immersion.
Spoiler: | When you do Stephane's first mission and he gets recruited as your first Assassin, the whole thing was just so janky, one sec I'm trying to read the controls and what to do...next second I accidentally press LB and he goes on to Assassinate that dude and I'm like..."What just happened here?". A bit of a downer I guess. I'd replay that mission, but what's the point 'till after you finished the game anyway plus why would I wanna sit thru that mission again... |
All in all while messy, the game is pretty entertaining.
Blame! don't act!

Yeah it's a bitch but when you done it once it's easy, cos every big tree with a vantage point is exactly the same .....
I don't get the feathers, what incentive is there to go get them ..... I think you get a new outfit if you get all 120 or so .... but come on, I'm not gonna do that, they should reward us for every 10 or 20 we get then I might want to try to get them all.

I heard that the "killstreak" killing combos have been removed in AC3, is this true?

works the same as before, after a kill you can keep insta-killing all standard enemies around you (except for captains etc.)

BTW, the Benedict Arnold Missions for PS3 are out on "P2P".
So far I think we have all the DLC for AC3 now with the Duplex DLC.

Nope, it won't come later, it's a console exclusive.
Neither X360 nor PC received the Copernicus DLC for Brotherhood, remember?

Yeah, I remember that. But that's not the same here, that didn't came out on anything other that PS3. This one, might come on the PC as well, so it's not much of an exclusive, other than a timed one.
My point is that if the DLC in question goes out on any other platform than PS3, PC in this case, it's no longer an exclusive so chances are that the x360 and WiiU will get that as well, in some form or another.

forgive me guys, i know this has probably been covered but i'm scared of the story being spoiled so i don't want to look -
jtag users - whats the lowest dash you have gotten away with? the last time i updated mine was to the new (at the time) metro dash. i believe that's what it was called, the one with all the facebook shit. i see the latest dash is 16 something so i am looking for a guide on how to update to it but it looks like all the guide friendly sites haven't updated since 13xxx and 14xxx. haven't turned my xbox on in over a year so i'm not sure what has changed or how to update it. if i can get away running it on my current dash i think i would rather do that for now.

Finished it a week or so ago. Did not impress me, think I even enjoyed AC1 more. Yes it was repetitive but at least the game required some skill in timing your jumps instead of just holding a button down and the game does everything for you. It also felt like you were more in control of what your char was doing. Even fired AC1 up again to compare and I stand by this statement. I also think the cities are so damn boring compared to the other games. Part of the AC series for me has been the scenery and IMO this falls flat here. Also feel the story line is not at all as immersive as AC2 and spinoffs. There I couldn't put the controller down.
Some of the sea missions are incredible though and I think some of the battles are really enjoyable.
I would give the game 6.5/10.

thanks dude. i found a guide to update to the newest and it was easy enough. xebuild is far less time consuming than fbbuild. got both of my jtags updated in about 5 mins.

WHY the fuck is this game so damn boring??
Can't play it for more than two hours in a row without taking a week long break. One of the most tedious games i've played in a LONG time. Kane and Lynch 2 had me more involved than this crap.
Let me get started, first of all, moving through the fucking woods is tedious as well as slow as fuck with one path to take, from start to finish, can't even fucking climb trees at the middle of the path, you have to either track back to the beginning or just straight up run on the ground since fuck this design.
Horses. Need i say more?
FUCKING FULL SYNC pidgeon-holing me into a single line of action. Why the fuck do i keep getting told what to do all the time? I'm not playing a fucking instruction manual, i understand the need for some instructions on what i'm supposed to be doing, but having me do it exactly as the designers thought i should do it instead of letting me just do it as i damn well please in a supposedly open world/open ended game is fucking annoying as hell. FUCK. Either reward every course of action, perhaps like hitman, or nothing at all. Keep getting hints that i'm "doing it wrong" whenever i decide to take another course of action than the one the fucking game prompts me to.
5 hour long tutorial. Why in god's name do i have to play through a 5 ass hour long tutorial/introduction, practically killing my entire mood of even finishing this crapfest. Having the old man, Achilles, tell me after 4 hours of playing that my Training is just beginning //endquote made me turn off the console.
That being said, i kinda liked that one mission with the boat, as well as the desmond mission with recovering that power source.

Assassin's Creed 4 in 2013?
Quote: | The next entry in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series could include co-op play and be on store shelves as early as next year. The Gaming Liberty has obtained a survey reportedly stemming from Ubisoft that gauges fan interest in a range of new features and ideas for the series. |

They need to find someone to write a decent story. I was completely let down by it, which wasn't much of a let down after all since I was expecting it to be that way. They really had something in the first game and then they went all crazy with that first civilization bullshit.
If they start another character on the next gen systems I do hope they completely redo the controls. I am so tired of sticking to walls and grabbing every damn thing I walk past when I was just trying to run forward. Oh and definitely find some new writers ffs. Some true stealth based game play would be nice as well...

you prolly are using it with the BLUS (US verison) of the game.
If i remember correctly, the Duplex DLC is for the BLES (EU) version. If so, just move the EDAT/content to a BLUS folder (patch folder).
I can attest the Duplex DLC works perfectly fine, at least on 1.01 patch when i had tried back then, but I doubt they did anything against it (you can still try with the game on 1.00 to be sure).
