I haven't been up to date with the farcry and crysis engines, so does anyone else think it's been limited in the functions for the consoles?

The engines (well, CE3 at least, not sure about Dunia 2) are capable of doing huge maps just fine. The games using them are just more limited.

This promises so much, I keep hoping it won't be as much of a letdown as FC2, even considering all the positive reviews, they may very well be the result of reviewer naivety or, you know, money.

Performance won't be an issue, at least.

Well, in a written review there is that chance yes, but you can actually see it for yourself in video reviews while they are commenting. Honestly for some reason I have the idea the game will get boring pretty quickly, the usual idea of having alot of ground to cover without actually having interesting stuff to do on that ground. Farcry 2 got very repetitive (especially those respawning camps ugh) but they've seemed to change that in this one. So we'll see, the game looks cool. The bow would be nice but I don't like the animation that much, its like a gun with arrows. And I don't like to hunt animals, just cause I dont think that is a cool thing to do, but I could be wrong. And playing poker etc, not for me. So we'll see in a week or so what the game has to offer. Could be pretty nice. Lets see if it can beat borderlands 2 / hitman for my goty choice.

I've only been following this game sparsely, and I do know the game hasn't been released yet, but if anyone could enlighten me on the issues I'll enumerate next, it would be great. Smile

1. Performance: How is it, compared to Far Cry 2? On par or way more taxing?
2. Enemies: Do they respawn and are there respawning checkpoints? Do they still need various shots (in the torso at least) to drop dead, or is it more real this time around?
3. Difficulty: Do the game has different difficulty settings? If so, would turning it up improve the enemy AI instead of just increasing their hit-points?
4. DRM: Classic (serial; CD-check; one-time online activation; etc...) or Always-On (Internet required all the time)?
5. Mods: Will it be possible to mod the game?
6. Multiplayer/Co-Op: Is LAN an option?

1. Performance: It's not out yet for the PC so we don't know and reviews can't be trusted when it comes to performance unless they tried multiple setups (that said, the ones who have played the PC version seems to be positive about performance).
2. Enemies: Enemies do not respawn (don't know about Animals though). After you clear a camp it turns into a friendly base with additional quests (like hunting assignments). Enemies seem to die in a similar fashion to Far Cry 2 from the various videos I've seen.
3. Difficulty: Yes, it has multiple difficulty settings. No idea but I would assume it's only a matter of how much HP they have and how much damage they deal on you.
4. DRM: "A one-time activation of Far Cry 3 for PC is performed via Uplay PC. An Internet connection is required for this one-time activation process. Once activated, the game can be played online to enjoy new social features in single player and multiplayer, such as Friends, Party and Chat, or switched to offline mode in the Uplay PC settings menu for a single player experience without broadband connection."
5. Mods: No mod tools (there is a map creator though...). But who knows...
6. Multiplayer/Co-Op: No server browser and probably no LAN mode.

Thank you. Smile

I have the feeling that this game could be one of the best games of this year. It just looks like Ubisoft has finally pulled their shit together.

Ugh... I've been thinking about this after experiencing that "amazing" AC3 performance, but also telling myself it's from a different developer.

Unfortunately the fact that it still comes from ubishit doesn't help grinhurt

Probably Razz. I think it has the same (non) protection as AC3 so hypothetically the ISO + Uplay universal YARRator should do the trick on paper.

I got that screen shot from a youtube commentator who was hired to do a review of the game. He posted it on his twitter, showing that they sent him the game early so he can do a video youtube review of the game. Its legit. But he is not pirate so don't expect him to leak lol

His youtube name is IIJERiiCHOII
