whoever chose this set up were you on crack at the time ?

It sucks big time .

I cant believe a scene community would chose this 3rd rate shite .

Really looks like the easiest option was taken on this one.

i don't see why you're whining ... building a custom board takes quite awhile ... they done it fast and the result is neat + we didn't have to wait months to get the board back up.

I don't have any problems with this design allthough I likted the old one better.

The only thing I don't like, is when you click in the tablerow of a forum at the forum index, you will automaticly be sent to that forum.
That is quite annoying when I'm just clicking on the browser so I can use my mousewheel to scroll the main forum page.

I love the new look/layout as much as I loved the old one, the differences will take a bit of getting used too but deep down there is very little difference with how it works. If I read correctly the old forum cost money to maintain (assuming it was VBB thats around $100 a year), this does the job just as well and for no cost to the admins. Ive ran forums using both VBB and PHPBB and I much perfere PHPBB from a backend POV, its far less cluttered and makes things much easier, which helps with a forum of this size.

Good work.

You need to understand that they can't afford to renew the license and they need PHPBB for easy skinning support and for modifications. That's enough resons for me. I was quite angry myself in the biginning.

Don't really have any problems with this new board, just wish we would have freaking avatars... Those little things always add more personality to users, rather then just a white letters of their name... Sad Or maybe I just miss those bouncy boobs , you be the judge… Smile

Im hardcore vb myself and would be prepared to donate 20 dollars towards a vb licence . Would you guys ?

It would mean the old data base could be imported in minutes restoring old posts etc.

I think a licence costs about 160 dollars so Im sure with a bit of good will we could do it.

for once i agree with you 4me2, i think. ill try it out and well see.

edit: is it still 5min rule of editing?
and is there a way you can block so it only quotes one person, otherwise the threads will fill up too fast with mostly quotes...
and no avatars?

I can care less about colors and such, as long as it loads up fast is all I care about. and so far it loads up fast.

sexyjesus is the only person on this forum, that cuts down his own, so-called country.
The only one.

Sure. And let everybody upload a sig with a maximum of 250kb to the server. Did you ever check the amount of members on the board? Why the hell would you want AT LEAST 50kb for an Avatar? There are other file formats than .bmp, you know ...

Seriously, I don't know what all this demanding is all about. I don't know if I would have choosen phpBB myself (but at least I know what I'm talking about, as I set up phpBB already ...) but it runs nice and fast for the end-user. Sure, its admin panel isn't the easiest one to use, but which of you guys will ever see that? Right. Besides, there are modifications for that. That's one of the advantages of Open Source.

16kb is a bit lousy, just look around, everyones avatars look a little blurred and discoloured because we have such a small limit to work with.

Anyway i like the look of the forum.

16 kb is more than enough for a 80x80 px image. It all depends on how you actually do your avatar. Feel free to check out mine, it is 2,34 KB (2.405 Bytes) small. I don't think it looks blurry and it has exactly the colors I want it to have. Using a suitable file format (.jpg, .gif or .png) and a little image editing does the trick. Imagine how slow this forum would be if only half of the members would use a 50kb avatar ...

Edit: fizzelopeguss, I just had a look at you avatar - if you would use gif (32 colors, and even that is a lot for that picture) instead, it would only be 2.6 kb instead of 16 kb- without any quality loss.

i like it, and it seems faster then the old one, which is far more important than looks in my opinion. That and functionality, but i dont see anything missing around here really, apart from the button to order crack-hoes perhaps, hahahaha Very Happy

Will take some getting used to, and I'm not sure why it happened in the first place (I just turned up one day to find it gone!), but fair enough it's up now and I'm settling in Wink

I don't like the horizontal rule seperating signatures from the main message body, it looks bad in my opinion, and I had to increase my default text size to get it legible - but it's okay I think.

There wasn't any special features I used on the last forum.
