I just uninstalled this due to unacceptable performance, FPS would fluctuate from 20-60 seemingly at random. Shame since the game was pretty interesting.

Tried the isodemo and the official release on my i5-3570 + 560 Ti.

Although I never have fraps on, I can tell the difference between 40 FPS and 60 FPS.

It runs like a dream, not one hickup for me.

Guys i have an i5-760 (slightly clocked) and an ati 460 and it runs very smooth for me too...
I think it's some strange combination of drivers+crack+ general system health...

yeah, might be (like Deus Ex 3 stuttering issues, AR sound delay...), but why you are all (game is so smooth band) afriad to launch afterburner and measure real performance? Exact numbers from boston is all we need.

But I am glad some players are enjoying the game as it is. Have fun. Smile

Yeah, time and again "running smooth" has been proven to be a completely worthless statement. Some people have been playing at 20-40 FPS all their lives and wouldn't know better (most of us have been there at one point, I think Smile)

Also, crack has nothing to do with this.

I have no reason to lie about my performance in this game or any other game for that matter. I'm getting fps fluctuations between 40-60. Capped the fps at 60 with frame limiter. The only area I'm getting closer to 40 fps is the screenshot spot in Boston.

How can I take a screenshot from the game and MSI Afterburner side by side without running it in window mode? Window mode will be counterproductive with the results.

I can also add that I had no performance problems with any of the other AC games on PC. They ran at 60fps.

Judging from the various comments the performance is indeed (once again) completely random and unpredictable.. some people have problems even with systems more powerful than mine whereas there are users with old quad-cores who are running it quite smoothly.

I've been lucky this time but hell knows what happened when Ubi tried to "optimize" this game. Laughing

Could we just have everybody banned who says "smooth" or "perfectly" and doesn't post fps numbers from Boston?

I bet my left nut this "perfectly" guy drops below 60fps.

I consider 45-60 smooth. Not everyone needs a steady 60fps. It ran 45-60 here with everything on highest except FXAA on high.

What you consider smooth is up to you. But when you're reporting performance to other people who have highly varying definitions for smooth, it's better to just post straight-up numbers, don't you agree?

Just in case you didn't know, anti-aliasing on very high includes MSAA. High ditches the MSAA and only leaves FXAA.

I would be very happy with 45-60 fps...

I get less than 20 in Boston, with everything on lowest!

E8400 (@4ghz), HD6950, 8gb and SSD, playing all recent games at very acceptable fps en good settings..

Thinking this game relies too much on CPU, because raising graphics settings to high gives me about the same fps..

I have the exact same specs as you except my CPU which is an i5 2500k. Run perfectly fine with everything on normal.

That CPU is what is killing you man but i think you already figured that out Razz

Yeah.. knew the day would come..

But nonetheless, this is still the first game with such bad performence, and according to the minimum reqs, I should still be able to play this game with reasonable fps.

Still calling bad optimization, cfr the many other complaints

You should never go by minimum reqs. It only means the game will run and that's it. More than often meeting the minimum reqs and no the recommended ones = shitty performence.

Anyway while it's true that the game could be better optimized , i think in this case your CPU is an even bigger factor. Personally i first noticed my C2D wasn't really cutting it anymore with GTA IV and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and im glad i upgraded because otherwise i would have had performence issues with many games that came after that. Sure i would have been able to run them but not at the performence i wanted and i suspect you are in the exact same situation as i was back then. Do yourself a favor and upgrade if you have the money. You will thank yourself later Cool

is there a spot that is commonly bad for fps that we can all go to and measure scientifically by taking the same screenshots with our fps visible? game feels like it runs 'smooth' for me too, but i only tried it for a few mins so far, and i didnt have fraps running.

Just started fraps to give you some measures.

Strange thing i get around 30-35 fps during cutscenes (i think it's the dof effect).

During gameplay it's around 40-45 fps, it can get as low as 30 in very crowded situations, but it's quite rare. Never saw it dip below 30 though.

I'm after connor gets the assasin suit, went to boston too.

I'm not using anti-aliasing (or using the minimum setting, can't remember if you can turn it off)

wouldn't surprise me if their fallback code for sse4 is shit, kinda explains how ppl with core2duo/quads with similar clocks to i5/i7's are seeing 50% less performance?

if its their shitty cpu+sse4 ambient occlusion without a toggle i'm gonna lol & still continue not buying ubifail games.

Took me 4 times i think and i too was a bit pissed at first. However there is basically one spot that is confusing and you wonder where to jump (right after some debris fall down to block your way). Once you pass that the rest is a piece of cake Cool

It's not hard at all. Just a bit confusing at first

Boston at the open market. Well i say open market but i'm not sure it's really one. It's a place where there are a lot of stands and people walking around and it does look like some market Razz

To me that was the place where i had the worst performence in the game when i had everything on High or more. Everything on Normal but AA to High i had a minor FPS drop in that area but it was still pretty fluid. Only High settings (and especially environement and AA to Very High) just raped my PC in that area.

Exit the animus. No need though since you'll automatically leave the animus now and then for Desmond missions, so you can read the mails when that happens.
